Here's audio of KUAZ 1550 Tucson, AZ from Friday September 15th at 5am AK Time.. the music is KGMZ San Francisco, Channel Q.... the flutter in KGMZ's signal is the carrier of KLUAZ coming up, I think... and when you hear a brief interruption in the KGMZ song, that's KUAZ causing that. The KUZ announcement is a bit hit hard by KGMZ's music but you can hear it fairly well and the NPR programming becomes a bit clearer, even.

Had english classic hits music on 1611khz shortly after 1400UTC here in Alaska today (Mon Sept. 27th) and it in theory could've been a few stations based upon a broad oldies/classic hits definition. I wasnt having any luck finding a matching webstream.. then i heard some commercials in what I presume to be Filipino.... DING! DWNX Milaor (Caramines Sur)

Back in 98 when I was working for BP in safety ( 30 years) I used to travel the ice road in Prudhoe Bay from Arco to our remote production site under construction at Niakuk.

in the early am hours I sometimes in the middle of the ice road (Arctic Ocean coast) picked up a Arabic station on the vehicle am dial no clue where it was coming from, but use to pick up numerous mw dx stations on the vehicle radio. No QRM.

Thanks for the picture and story John. Do you remember what frequency it was? There's a few super power stations.. but ive heard 20 and 50kw's form Iran..... it was probably Saudi or Iran.

If you were on the Ice Road, I guess that means you were literally driving on top of the Arctic Ocean, driving on top of frozen saltwater, so that would explain at least part of the good reception.

Here's a few logs and clips from Just East Of The Ass end Of Gods Creation Nowhere aka McGrath, Alaska using a CC Skywave and Debock 5" FSL Antenna

"Magic Talk", 1107kHz Tauranga, NZ at 1525UTC on Fri. Oct1st. Heard on and off for 2 hours, but the absolute clearest and best signal came at 1525UTC during Toto's Africa which is in this audio clip and gets REAL clear at about 1 minute 5 seconds into the clip. Audio: Magic 1107kHz Tauranga, NZ Fri Oct 1, 2021 1525UTC.mp3 Distance: 7130 miles.

4TAB 1008kHz Brisbane, QLD, Aus at 1511UTC on Sat. Oct 2nd with live horse racing action. The audio gets real good right after the start of the recording. Audio: 4TAB 1008kHz Brisbane, QLD, Aus Sat Oct 2, 2021 1511UTC.mp3 Distance: 6850 miles

A3Z 1017kHz Nuku'alofa, Tonga at 1531UTC on Fri October 1st with female talking in english and Tongan at some special event live broadcast. Audio: A3Z 1017kHz Nuku'alofa, Tonga Fri Oct 1, 2021 1531UTC.mp3 Distance: 5910 miles

4RN 792kHz Brisbane, QLD, Aus at 1519UTC on Fri Oct 1, 2021 with some american radio show, featured american accents. Audio: 4RN 792kHz Brisbane, QLD, Aus Fri Oct 1, 2021 1519UTC.mp3 Distance: 6850 miles

DWNX 1611kHz Mialor, Philippines at 1412UTC on Mon Sept 27, 2021 with bonnie Tyler's "Total Eclipse of The Heart" and some Filipino language commercials. Audio: 4RN 792kHz Brisbane, QLD, Aus Fri Oct 1, 2021 1519UTC.mp3 Distance: 5110 miles

2KP 684kHz Kempsey, NSW, Aus between 1500 and 1600UTC on Sat. Oct 2nd, 2021 with several fade ups, including some Aussie accented english and a song during. There are three 684's in Australia but all were running separate programming at the time and I was able to match what I had to the ABC Mid North Coast webstream, which was running "Nights with Indira Naidoo". Audio clip #1 (with speech): 2KP 684kHz Kempsey, NSW, Aus 1518UTC.mp3 Audio clip #2(with music): 2KP 684kHz Kempsey, NSW, Aus 1554UTC.mp3 Distance: 7090 miles

CNR1 945kHz Jiaohe, China at 1400 to 1500UTC on Wed. Sept 29, 2021 with a massively clean, clear, strong signal carrying basketball play by play in Chinese. Signal was so good, I widened audio to 3kHz and could hear the shoes squeaking as players went up the court! Audio clip #1: bit.ly/2Y7gbTX Audio clip #2: 2WHfgJG Distance: "only" 3100 miles.

"Star" 657Khz New Zealand at 1400 to 1530UTC on Mon Sept 20, 2021. Heard with several fade ups including the best one at 1412UTC with a song and some english chatter. Audio: Star NZ 657kHz Mon Sept 20, 2021 1412UTC.mp3 Distance: "could be 7130 miles" Not known exactly which transmitter I heard, as two exist, Wellington and Tauranga but based upon reception behavior the fact I hear Magic on 1107 from Tauranga regularly, I'm "going with" that transmitter though I have heard ZB on 1035kHz from Wellington, just not very often.

Radio Kerman 1062kHz Kerman, Iran at 1506UTC on Mon Sept 20, 2021 Heard with a language I didnt initially recognize in the beginning and U had to run back in to use the "Facilities" so I left it recording. Came back out a few minutes later and the signal was gone. Upon review inside in the warm comforts of my apartment, and thanks to a RealDX member, we heard a reference to Iran and caught that this was Arabic language being spoken. 1062 here is usually Turkey Audio: Radio Kerman Iran1062kHz Mon Sept 20, 2021 1506UTC .mp3 Distance: 5750 miles

Really excellent catches there, Paul, and many thanks for your concise reports giving all the information. So many signal reports are hopeless to anyone wanting to try to receive the station but the reporter gives only "I heard Radio Bloggsland on 10MHz this afternoon". We don't know the exact frequency, location, UTC time, local time (which is important as it tells me whether it's in darkness or daylight) so searching for this station may well be a fool's errand.

I'm not nearly as verbose and into minutia as a certain other Dxer who uses his own his own spellings even. I like to keep it short and sweet, only getting detailed if it's warranted.

Here's 2NC 1233 Newcastle, NSW, Aus from Sun. Oct 10th at 1604UTC:
You hear a guy say "so and so, abc sport".. then the main anchor says "and thats.... ABC News".. and then a few seconds of dead air followed by what can semi clearly be heard as the weather forecast

2NC 1233 was one of the stations that interviewed a certain Alaskan radio nerd on the air last winter

NEW! IRan on 1512 with 50kw. Matched to stream with a jovial sounding talk show of some kind. You'd think the 1 megawatt Saudi Quran outlet would be what I hear on 1512.. nope guess not!

Iran on 1449 with 400kw. Banging signal, but had a het from 250 watt KLAM 1450 Cordova 300 miels away

NEW! Kuwait on 1548

50kw Iran on 1026khz as well. Not new

If US broadcasters would ID only 10% that clearly.... :)

What I find stunning is that there even seems to be some kind of constant (local?) QRM underneath the signal.
