I tried to find out the exact model Mocom for 1967-69 but couldn't so I installed what I could find. Anyone have an idea? The scanner could be added on later as these cars usually were in service for 8-10 years. Here's a few more.

Googling Adam-12 and radio said the radio head shown in the videos was a Motrac 4-channel. The same head was also noted in the Dragnet series, just FYI since your personalized tag is DRAGNET.

I'm a Mopar man myself. 67 Plymouth Barracuda Fastback.

I'm not done with the stripes yet or the whole car. LOL!

"Dragnet" is a metaphor which makes people think cops or police. The tag has nothing to do with the series. By the way, where in the world did this guy dig this up at? The motherload.

The guys on Hamsexy and Batlabs that are into that stuff are probably salivating puddles over that if the info in the listing about never being installed is true. Can't begin to imagine where such a thing would be found in that condition -- at most hamfests that vintage of stuff looks like it was in a vehicle involved in a train wreck.

Here is a link regarding the Motrac control heads: http://www.geocities.com/n0ngl/qcscan/adam12.html
and here is one on eBay:

This is not intended as criticism in any sense- just footnote for authenticity sake =if you are going after the Vintage California/ LAPD look, loose the blue teardrop. They are not really used much in the Golden State because of the vehicle code and California code of regulations.

The California Vehicle Code requires (CVC 22252) a steady burning red light visible to the front to meet the definition of an emergency vehicle.

Additionally, no teardrops were in use during that time period- I do not think they quite existed then. A true period light would have been a flip down red light in the headliner, a plug-in light in the headliner (they had a three pin plug similar to a Shure Microphone plug or a possibly a mag mount but hardwired red light kinda the same idea as the teardrop just steady burning spot type. Seems there was a requirement that lighting be permanently installed somewhere in the California Code of Regulations (which also requires white doors on law enforcement vehicles used primarily for traffic enforcement).

In California, Blue lights occur only in addition to red lights and may only be displayed by fulltime peace officers not fire, ems, or even police reserves may operate a car with blue lights. CVC 25258 (b). This is largely ignored but it is on the books.

I have an picture of the car used on dragnet, will have to find it. My system crashed and trying to rebuild it. But, if I find it I'll post it.

This was modeled after a vehicle used in the police department here in Alabama.

"Daddy ran whiskey in a big black Dodge,

Bought it at an auction at the Mason's Lodge

had 'Johnson County Sheriff' painted on the side,

just a shot-coat of primer and a look inside,

Well him and my uncle tore that engine down,

I still remember that rumlin' sound...."

Yeah, my A12 Charger will be named "Copperhead Road." :)
