I’m trying to register my 436 on the myuniden web site and it won’t take the entire serial number. It’s not taking the last two numbers. And before somebody comments , no I’m not using the first two characters “sn”. Anybody else have this problem? I’ve registered other scanners there before with no problems. Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Are you using the 12 digit serial number on the ID tag on the back of the scanner, or are you trying to input the electronic serial number from the menu system?

You need to enter the SN, not the ESN.

I figured it out, the “sn” at the beginning must be included or it won’t take it. Thanks for your response

With my last two scanners, I had to leave off the first 5 characters, which apparently indicate the product line, or else the number would not fit. Those numbers used to be included and are still showing for the other registered scanners I have.

That’s the page where you request the upgrade, after you fill out the registration portion, I had to do that too.

Serial # is going to look like ###Z######## i.e. 123Z00001234
ESN is going to look like ############## i.e. 12326000001234
Checksum is a 3-digit hex number (0AF, 123, 00C, etc).

You never enter "sn" in any of the fields. You never enter a hyphen.

Tramagod: You tried to put the ESN in the Serial Number field. The correct entry would have been: 376Z88001575.

UPMan, once a scanner is registered under an incorrect serial, can the SN field be edited?

Most of my scanners have been upgraded, so I don't want to delete and re-enter because I think the keys would get lost.

No. But, that field isn't really used for anything other than as a index key for the entry. We only use the ESN (because it can be verified against checksum) for anything official.

Thanks for that. I will be receiving and registering another 536 soon, then upgrading the last 2. I haven't had any problems with the upgrade key process on previous units.
