Undisclosed urban location.
All the freqs. that I had programmed from the wiki were spot on this past week-end at Darlington.
Should be the same for Charlotte in the coming weeks.
Would like to find out the freqs. multiple car teams use for their car-to-car comms.
That would be soooo sweet.

Wow, they pretty much switch every race. You can get the frequencies from the program book you get at the track for $12.

Next time

I should have spent $ 5 bucks .It really hard to program a 296d at a race .I wish I had my 245xlt .But it really not worth spending $16 bucks just for program book .I was just there to see the race .I still had the rescue and safty that I could hear and the tv talk.It was better to here them anyway .Just don't trust what you see on the web sites for race codes .Get them at the race . You can get them for $5 dollers at a radio shop in the race section of the track .I will do that next time .

That's very interesting. I put the freqs in from the top of this post for the sprint cup race and they were spot on. I know I listened to all of the Hendrix, Gibbs, Evernham, and a few other cars.

Several sites on the internet have pretty much the same set of frequencies.

Not sure what was going on with the nationwide race.

Or you could've used that little button on your radio that's called "search" you would've been just as well off to do that.

I've bought the race quide at the track before for the $5 and was worth it. Hell I even paid $50 to rent the damn radio at the track, I didn't care, for one, I'm a scanner nut, two, I didn't own a portable at the time.

I went to a local race track this past weekend, and had just as much fun scanning around finding frequencies because, well, there was absolutely nothing online avail. to me, and I even emailed the track, who unfortunately didn't get back to me with the info, but they were helpful in trying to do so from the beginning.

Nationwide changes drivers and cars like I change my underwear! Some drivers are released one week and end up driving for another team the next week. The list that I posted was all verified as on the spring Atlanta race. It was very easy, because when I was there, I spent all 3 days at the track and especially during time trials, I was able to nail each channel as they talked to their driver then.

Im sure you are going to the AMS race. Lets us know about any frequency changes that you may find. I am going to TMS next weekend and it would be nice to know of any changes.

Enjoy the race it will be awesome!

OK, I'm a day early, but I got home and downloaded my scanner. I programmed in all of the frequencies and set the Pro-96 to tone search. If you notice there are 2 entries for 12 Newman and 28 Kvapil, there was activities on both channels. I'll update the WIKI page as well. Oh, yeah, it didn't hurt that my brother & sister-in-law had rented a pre-programmed scanner from the track and I compared all the freqs!

Pardon my ignorance, but what are the "tones" all about? Will I be able to use my Pro-90 at the track? Thanks guys.

Koop
The 'tones' are either CTCSS, or, DCS. They allow for many to use the same frequency without interference. Yes, you can use your scanner at the track. Mike will love the fact that you brought to life a thread that is a year and a third old:D

Tones and Pro-90

Thanks Larry. Now that I found my scanner in the garage, and I now live 20 minutes from Lowe's Motor Speedway, I'm excited about the prospect of going to a race and being able to "tune in". So I just plug in the frequencies and not worry about the tones? Sounds good to me! :D

You may have a problem with the 6.25Khz frequencies, they will probably round off. Other than that, you shouldn't have a problem.

Chicagoland Race 2010

Was listening to the online scanner steam of the Chicagoland race last night and can confirm that the NASCAR - The RadioReference Wiki page is correct for the following drivers: Johnson, Earnhardt Jr, Hamlin, Kahne, and Edwards. The frequencies listed for Jeff Gordon and Martin were used by the stream but didn't show the PL tone so I couldn't confirm the tone for those two. The other drivers weren't on the stream.

Only thing to add was hearing Jimmy Johnson's team on 452.2375 (127.3) which they called the "practice channel".

Gordon is quite animated and definitely worth monitoring if you go to a race.

Anybody know how far away you will be able to listen in from?? I'd like to listen from where I am but I'm over 50 miles away from KS Speedway?!?!
