Two questions, am I able to select specific sites to listen to such as Ecity (019) or am I just programming frequencies around that area?

Should I get DMR or NXDN for these frequencies? I hear “Troop A dispatch” but never any cars reporting back. I also hear sheriff and police departments as well as Fire/EMTs.

You have a SDS100 which is really all you need at this point for NC VIPER. No need for DMR or NXDN when listening to just NC VIPER.

Recommend you spend some time reading your SDS100 Manual and/or the Easier to Read SDS100/200 Digital Scanner Manual to fully understand programming P25 trunking sites with this scanner.

The control channels for Pasquotank (ECity) are below. Put them in a Favorites List, name it and give it a Favorites List Quick Key Number. If entered properly you should be able to hear the local NCSHP, ECity PD, South Mills and Pasquotank Sheriff as well as FD and EMS.

853.3375
853.5625
853.6750
853.7500

Some additional; if you are physically located in South Mills, I wouldn't think that you would need a Yagi or even an outdoor antenna because the South Mills tower is literally on top of you. Plus the Pasquotank tower isn’t far. A good 700 / 800 mobile antenna that Scanner Master sells specifically for the SDS100 should work.

Having said that, I guess a good Yagi would be nice. Good luck.

I have a Remtronix 842 and pickup all those without issue. My connectors will be here today to go from N to BNC and SMA. I can hear Troop A (ncshp) but never hear the units call back the dispatch. I’ve also never heard the NCWRC. Thank you for the frequencies, I’ll double check that I have them programmed already.

During deer season I put Wildlife District 1 (Camden is District 1 that you want to listen to) and I am not hearing them. They may be encrypted. Last year they were using all the District 1 talkgroups and it was very active. So you might not hear anything. I have a separate scanner setup just for Wildlife and its programmed into 4 other scanners I have and use daily. Not a peep in over a month so far.

I hear NCWRC on the VIPER TGs every time I monitor viper on the Raleigh towers. Have you tried monitoring other districts, maybe they are patched from D1 to another.

Its very possible. Good idea to try. I assume it also depends the tower sites the different districts are affiliated with as well. Worth a try. Thanks for the idea.

Deer season is almost out. I’ve heard very little (almost nothing) out of the NCWRC at all. I pickup Valhalla, E city, South Mills, Winfall and Gates DOC. Gates DOC is used by other leo agencies as well. Anyone had any luck listening to NCWRC District 1?
