NDBs are located near toxic waste sites, nuclear facilities, dangerous areas, and restricted areas. Non-Direction literally means “DO NOT GO IN THIS DIRECTION BECAUSE YOU COULD DIE.”.
Waypoints are directional beacons.
Waypoints are located near safe areas like airports, fire stations, and places that may be useful for helicopters. Waypoint literally means “YOU CAN FLY THROUGH THIS AREA SAFELY.”
By using these NAVAIDS, a pilot can plot a safe route through areas that may have dangerous hotspots. The NAVAIDS can be used with limited visibility.
