I need some help picking the right Antenna for me. I live in Nashua,NH and I would like to be able to pick up Lakes regions NH IE Laconia. I know its probably expensive for that. I'm using a BCD996Xt. And if i can get down towards Boston

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm new on this and I would probably do this in the Spring of 2013.

Note: I dont want an antenna that would be an eye sore stick out like a sore thumb

I don't think your going to be able to get Laconia, you might be able to get Boston. Now what do you listen to? Also what do you mean by a "eyesore"? Are you talking about the antenna designs or the size?

I listen to Hudson, Hollis, Merrimack areas like that I can pickup thats clear. Other areas I need a better antenna to pickup those areas a little better. Like Manchester,Concord, Fitchburg, towns like that. And the size

Would this be a good antenna? https://www.scannermaster.com/WBD_40_Discone_Base_Antenna_p/13-540456.htm

Others areas but I know there is no guarantees is Worcester, Hampton, Salem NH etc

A discone has no gain so your solution would need to include some mounting height (eyesore factor??) and then you need some serious low-loss coax cable. You might also might need to consider a mast-mount pre-amp for the frequencies of interest.

It might be worth it to research a frequency specific Yagi that you could aim in the direction of the community/agency of interest.

Discone is what I need I dont want to aim it at an area and miss other areas. Thanks though
Can someone explain frequency coverage?
The longest I found is AOR DA5000 that covers 700-3000 MHz and the one i'm looking at WBD-40 covers 25-1300 Mhz. Can someone explain how far of coverage that is? I know this may sound impossible but what is that in miles?
