• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

Connect the repeater to USB and see how it appears in the device manager. If there is a problem with the driver, you will see a yellow triangle icon.
Appears to be a driver issue.I have tried everyones suggestions so far and just about every combination of drivers software and windows version from windows 7 to 11.Am starting to think this older firmware needs a specific driver and software combination to work with these machines.Nothing is being recognized in windows to connect.I appreciate everyones help and suggestions obviously have not hit the right combination yet

Try using this driver for Windows 11. But first, remove the old version of the driver. In the installed programs, find Digital USB Driver and uninstall it.

Its a driver issue with the version CPS and firmware. When you install the firmware, make sure you delete previous drivers and then install the driver with the older CPS and firmware. I even found that I got up to Version 09 firmware it only worked with an older driver so you may have to select bypass driver install. This is the driver I have that works:

The firmware version on the plate on each repeater is V6.1.03.003 I haven't been able to access the repeater to read any of them.Thats where I have tried everyones suggestions but I am pretty sure I need an older combo of driver and software to work then I can do updates that work with new firmware and cps.I am starting to think I need an older computer to work with the proper older firmware driver combo. As best as I can figure this would have been 2013-14 vintage.I know nothing about hytera and the history with the motorola law suit but guessing that has something to do with all of this.I have some md652 mobiles that I got out of the same estate and I got the programming working with them and using the same cables I am trying to get to work on the repeaters.Been a nightmare!!

It's quite difficult to get an answer from you. Several people have already advised you to put the repeater into boot mode and check whether the repeater will continue to disconnect from USB. If not, then at least you can try updating the firmware to a more current version. Also, you haven't answered the question of how the repeater is displayed in the device manager. Take a screenshot of the device manager when the repeater is connected to USB.

I have tried every suggestion given. The usb error comes up as usb not recognized. The repeater will not go into boot mode. These repeaters were all used in a dmr trunk mode judging by what I read from the mobiles I downloaded. The mobiles took updates as well as reading the cps and uploading so I know the cables work at least for them but for whatever reason I haven't found the right driver combination.I have programmed every level of motorola harris tait and Kenwood so I know how to make software and drivers work .Have never experienced this level of problems. As stated the repeater won't go into boot mode almost like it is locked out but again maybe a driver issue with the cables. These are after market cables and not original hytera.

The only time it beeps is when the cable is put in the computer and the repeater.Power up the repeater get the usb beep but the computer never recognizes it and when the repeater starts to boot up you get the usb disconnect beep.Windows does not recognize it so definetly a driver usb issue

This drawing shows you how to build a programming cable for your Hytera repeater.

I hope it helps.

If you don't have access to a DB26 connector, you can use a DB15 connector and then cut off the right side of the shield so it can be connected to the back of your device.

As shown in the following drawing.

I did it this way because it was difficult to find a DB26 connector.

Regards.

To put it into firmware mode!

While the repeater is off...

Attach and use an SM16A1 microphone (the one that comes with the MD786 or similar)

Attach the microphone holder so that this action closes the ground circuit.

Press and hold the PTT button.

Connect or turn on the repeater.

Make sure the notification LED turns red and the repeater will be ready to receive the update.

All of this according to the service manual.

Regards

I just came across this little option today iv never seen
Optional software license option
SW00156-Terminal Disable CPS read license for subscriber
My guess at this would be what your issue seems to be. Wont let you read the radio itself and would have to program it with a saved codeplug. Kind of a write only thing
