I am a new owner of a digital scanner and boy have scanners changed. I am using a BCD325P2 and I am finding myself in the land of I do not know.
When I got the scanner I purchased the ARC-XT Software and subscribed to RR for the data. I am doing something wrong and not sure how or why so need help.
The RR Database I am working with are the following:
State of Pa,
County of Franklin
Fire/EMS
Low Band Conventional
P25 Project
I download the Franklin P-25 using the RR download thing. It has something called site 101 and site 102. 400Mhz freq associated with them. In the Talk Groups I pick Fire/EMS Dispatch and the Ops channels. Don't load Fire Police or Townships. They are listed by 1 and on up. I assume all of the drop downs and numbers and settings are all correct, hit send an boom, done.
Low Band Conventional very very spotty.
P25 is dead.
I heat noise at squelch level 1 from site 101 and 102, click up to 2 and it is gone.
If you look on the Franklin Database
Franklin County, Pennsylvania (PA) Scanner Frequencies and Radio Frequency Reference
the license is WPKX793 Methodist Hill Tower Site.
By air it is about one mile from my home. Sits on top of a Mountain and I am on the next mountain east about halfway up.
I am also using Adams County and Cumberland County Conventional Low Band and that works with a discone. Rubber duck can get NWS feed.
I tried to save the setup on ARCXT and it saved as a .rsf and RR will not let me upload. If someone wants to take this on and help me, awesome that would be,
Can you look at the data on RR and see if it is correct?
If you use ARCXT I can PM you my .rsf so you can see for yourself.
I lack the knowledge to figure this out on my own.
The low band in Franklin got turned down to save power...so I was told. My analog does not hear it anymore but I still get Adams. The only signal on the 325P2 and my analog, that is crystal clear is
154.2800 Mutual Aide. I can hear County to County 80 miles away. Some how on the same channel I am getting Commercial Airplane Traffic, I believe flying into Harrisburg...go figure.
I have one of those old 16 channel Bearcats in my truck with a glass mount antenna and I can hear Franklin Fire on it but the 325P2, in the same truck...hear nothing.
Help Please. Thanks
