I'm looking to put a yagi antenna in my apartment, landlord won't let me put an antenna on the roof or in the attic. I'm going to use a paper towel holder and a pvc pipe for the stand, I just need recommendations for a cheap budget yagi. My budget is around 30 bucks since I don't want to go overboard on this. If the cheap one works eventually I'll buy an expensive one.

Trying to monitor the CO DTRS on 800mhz with my BCD796d. It's gonna be a fun project.

Thanks.

I have this in the basement aiming out a window about 11 miles to the tower. I am very happy with it.

At 30 bucks, you are in "they don't sell them that cheap" territory.

Search the forum for reviews of yagis. There are some TV antennas that doesn't work well, even when receiving TV signals, but others that are excellent for scanner use that costs less than $30.

I have 4 of these I bought from Amazon as "used" for 34 bucks each. Almost like new shape, basically open box condition only. One had a scratch and marks like it was installed briefly and then sent back. The used ones come up once in a while. You have to keep checking. Otherwise, the new price of 50 bucks isn't bad either. They work very well, as DS506 said in the post above.

I'm gonna try an HDTV antenna and go from there. The systems I want are all 800mhz so a TV antenna should be close enough to these systems right?

How is the reception with that antenna setup? Do you receive most bands well?
