For general VHF and UHF monitoring, especially ham radio stuf, this actually looks like quite a decent little radio. Personally, a scanner which can decode most of the main DV modes would be lovely.I love new receivers and own an Alinco dj-md5 but what purpose does this serve that is not already available from the icom r15 or uniden 160 or others. Yes, these others have no dstar, acars and similar but not a big deal for most people. Limited frequency range etc. I see a very limited market. Please, what am I missing?
To be honest, there’s not a lot of point in having 470-700ish since that’s just TV broadcasting in many jurisdictions.Interesting...I will consider one once I see feedback. My AOR 8200 isn't right and no support. I would have liked to see the frequency range expanded, thinking it stops at 470.
470-500 is QUITE active in this area.To be honest, there’s not a lot of point in having 470-700ish since that’s just TV broadcasting in many jurisdictions.
It’s nice to learn something new!470 - 520 is one of the most active bands here, this alone will stop me from getting one.
I am looking forward to the release of this radio.
I don't know if this is completely accurate, but this page shows a price of $469.95.

This "feature" in the description of the radio made me laugh...
- The set mode, which has more than 50 items in 11 menus, is packed with useful functions that cannot be described in detail !
Can i have a link to your software M0FXB@OUTLOOK.COMBut I have to know. Will the MESSAGE pop up automaticly when receive message or do I have to place it in MESSAGE mode ?
Yes I know I can se old Message in the Message Log but it is empty. I do now know it is not about baud rate 1200 or 2400.
I have try it on both system with 1200 and 2400. But where JM3LGF picture shows MESSAGE my stays in VFO.
ECB85. Yes I know about the programming sofware and have read a lot in that site.
I have manage to create my own version of the programming software in English.
And it work perfect and I have more than 400 channel programed in the radio receiver.
Get an Icom 8600 if you haven't already tried one. P-25 is fully encrypted state wide for public service. I sold my SDS200 a few years ago.I see another radio manufacturer did not include P25, just like Icom and Uniden on there latest radios released. Wide band would still be nice like the older radios but it’s not happening. Have a feeling what we see coming out from big players is all we will get. Hope I’m wrong. Hoping icon comes out with a R30 replacement but not holding my breath waiting. Almost better to get a ham radio with wide coverage.
I sold my R8600. Great radio. Just spent more time with my handhelds. Just a guess but I'll give it 5 years and most comms will be encrypted. Am sure the big boys did there research and saw the writing on the wall with P25.
