I see another radio manufacturer did not include P25, just like Icom and Uniden on there latest radios released. Wide band would still be nice like the older radios but it’s not happening. Have a feeling what we see coming out from big players is all we will get. Hope I’m wrong. Hoping icon comes out with a R30 replacement but not holding my breath waiting. Almost better to get a ham radio with wide coverage.
We know you love the R30 you say it all The time. Can you point to a ham radio with wide band coverage that does all modes?

Unfortunately, the days of all modes in all frequencies is gone. My Yaesu VX7R has .1 to1200 Mhz as allot of other ham radios have. About all we can get. Never owned a Alinco before. Will keep an eye out for personal reviews. IF Icom would have included the waterfall for the R15. may have bought one. Not sure why Icom left it out since its in the 52a. Anyone know if this one has a waterfall display? Would have kept my 52a but Icom neutered it by removing certain modes in certain frequencies.

It does not have a waterfall display. But there are a couple of interesting outputs that can be used for 3rd parry software.

New firmware for DJ-X100 on Alinco Japan Homepage ワイドバンドレシーバー|ダウンロード|電子事業部|製品情報|ALINCO - アルインコ
Use Google Translate for update instructions. Depending on your version you have to do two updates (A and B) in a row.
Language is still Japanese, expansion codes will work as before the update. I am coming from Ver 1.02, MCU 3.00-001, DSP 1.04., Result below.

If anyone finds a source or link for the english language version as planned for DJ-X100 E/T please share. 73, Thomas DL3YEB
Codeplugs created with Editor 1.0 are faulty in the digital modes after the firmware update to MCU 4.00 because NXDN has been added. As a result, stored D-Star and C4FM channels appear in the wrong digital mode. Can be solved by using the editor 1.01. Import the old *.dat file and save it in the new *.dan file format and write it back to the radio. In the 1.01, NXDN is also listed as a modulation type to choose.

Editor 1.01 is only Japanese. Can someone please modify and share the version in English? - Thank you in advance!

I am looking forward to the release of this radio.
I don't know if this is completely accurate, but this page shows a price of $469.95.

This "feature" in the description of the radio made me laugh...
  • The set mode, which has more than 50 items in 11 menus, is packed with useful functions that cannot be described in detail !
Sorry its going to be 800 dollars

@M0FXB : Firmware version to find in the menu: SET - Status - Device Info (or the similar japanese items), please refer to page 83 of english manual. English Tool you added is old version 1.00 which does not work with the new firmware. New tool 1.01 works, but is in japanese only.
@c0ne and @oz1jua: Can you please help with a english translation of the new editor version 1.01 software?

It can't decode NXDN 4800 . In France, many Alps ski stations are in NXDN 4800 trunk . TRX-1 and TRX-2 are decoding so well . ACARS are now replaced by VDL-M2

I love new receivers and own an Alinco dj-md5 but what purpose does this serve that is not already available from the icom r15 or uniden 160 or others. Yes, these others have no dstar, acars and similar but not a big deal for most people. Limited frequency range etc. I see a very limited market. Please, what am I missing?
To quote my previous post, what am I missing…what gap does this radio fill that is not already covered at less price? I can buy 2 different radios that between them would cover most of this for the same amount of money. I realize it is more convenient having just one radio but, as others have said, there are many limitations to this Alinco….where is p25, 800mhz, automatic mode detection, 470mhz top, sd card, dual receive, waterfall?

It’s a Japanese domestic market radio that migrated to the US. After a lot of thought I canceled my order, noting the limitations of the digital formats and complexity of programming.

Finally, just to clarify, I have nothing against Alinco..I own their dmr handheld and my very first handheld I bought years ago after I got my license was an Alinco. But, this radio just doesn’t appeal to me and I predict will not be a best seller. They could have done a lot better for the US market. Maybe at half the price but just not competitive. Sorry Alinco.

Can't believe it...that's sad! At least I know where all these weak NXDN signals come from where I live, thanks.

Alinco has made some really interesting radios, especially the credit card sized VHF and UHF handhelds from quite a few years back. I carried a DJ-C1T for several years to use at Hamfests, same with the DJ-5T. This one needs a little more development for the US market….
