New and Need Help

I am having a hard time understanding what information is important in the RadioReference database. I want to monitor fire and police on seperate scanners. To set up a scanner to monitor fires only what do I need to know and what do I need to program?

give us a little more info... where you live , etc... if you have scanners, which ones and if you the price range you are willing to invest.... plenty of help in here.

I have already invested thousands in the scanners, Uniden BC796D, discone and beam antennas, mast, cabels, etc. etc. The only thing I have left to do is program the scanners and make sure my antennas are picking up the signals.

Which of this is necessary in programing the radios?

The DEC numbers are the key numbers here. Those 17xxx
numbers are what you want to program in your scan list.
You can alpha tag them with their descriptors as well so you can see
what is active at a glance.
Are you monitoring Baltimore County ? Make sure you have it trunk
programmed in MOT II mode.

OK, so I am using Butel software and it's self explanitory where the frequencies go but where do you put the DEC numbers? The books and manuals are not very helpful or I am real dense, maybe a little of both!!!

In ARC click on ID List from the Trunk menu. The numbers go in the left column and tags in the right.
