NPSTC should take advantage of this and get a specific license in there for land based use of marine radios for public safety/SAR. Public Safety operates in a at best "grey" area when they use marine radio installed in apparatus, command units or by hand on land to talk to water based assets.

I am not talking using marine channels land to land but using Marine radios on land to take to on water radios.

If public safety agencies can prove that they need land based marine radios they can already get a marine utility station license for mobiles or private coast station license for a base.

If you read Part 80, there is no place for Public Safety. All the land based license come with specific restrictions on channel use and qualifiactions. Yes you can get an STA or get a utility station license that does not really apply or just use in violation of part 80 like most do.

This is a chance to make it easy to do the right thing. Add a section to Part 80 to cover this or give a blanket exemption to public safety to install land based for use with public safety/SAR comms with water based units
