I can tell you that driving down Route 78 through Union County, I get at least 5 times the activity (maybe more) on my G5 vs my 536.

that's not the story in the Linden area and did you try going mobile

Yup, and with a Larsen NMO3E700B roof mounted, I get the same traffic on UC Simulcast on the HP2 as I do on my G5. Never, ever had a problem with Union County. (shurg)

Every other site however has been an issue as everyone has always noted. Particularly West Orange.

It all depends on where you are located. I can move from one room to other with PRO 668 and get 100% to 0 % activity same goes for being mobile in the car one block to next you get it and then you don't, just the opposite with SDS100 I get 90 to 100 % coverage
bottom line, if you have the money get SDS100 if you only want to cover NJICS get the G5 or SDS100

Out of curiosity as I am fairly new to the whole NJICS and still getting used to my SDS100 ... I am smack in between West Orange and Livingston and I believe there is a simulcast tower in both locations...how do I know which tower my radio is pulling from and is there a way of forcing a specific tower that might get better reception?

West Orange simulcast consists of a few sites, main site on eagle rock , west orange, one on riker hill, livingston, among others

You can't and there is not with a simulcast cell short of utilizing a yagi with a very, very narrow forward lobe pattern.

I logged one of the Atlantic Air radios affiliating to TG 5115. Could this be a new Air Ops talkgroup for Atlantic Ambulance for flight following?

Do you have the time and RID?
I first logged it yesterday (4/1) at 16:30 and it was active today again at 17:25. I already cleared out the log but i think it was RID 16172 which I have as a portable for Atlantic Air. This was on the Freehold site.

The reason I asked is cause I've been working on mapping out all the medevac ID's again since some birds have come off lease or been swapped for others. PHI has been rotating helos out nationwide for others in their regional pools as their lease expires. 16172 I had, the last I logged it, as a portable being associated with N311PH, the former Atlantic Air-2, now Cooper Air-2.

I have 4133 down as "State TG 2" with 4131 being "State TG 1" and 4135 being "State TG 3." If I recall correctly, these are used for agencies to test NJICS before switching.

I had honestly forgotten about that, but this was regular traffic and appeared to continue through the night. It definitely was not analog to digital simulcast, and definitely was not REMU. This was NJICS traffic of an EMS nature.
