Newbie to NJICS so please be kind. I have several very basic questions I'd like to ask about the NJICS system. Is this the proper forum to do so or should I be somewhere else. Thanks in advance!!

This thread is generally used to discuss changes to the system itself. You're probably better off creating a new thread if you have some specific questions to ask, so that they don't get lost in the mix here.

No need to apologize, I just think you'd be better off starting your own thread. Some of your questions might be relevant to someone else, and they'd have an easier time finding them in a separate thread vs hidden within 247 pages and nearly 5,000 posts in this monster thread.

I looked at the other threads on this but I can't quite understand what the change is... any details? Do I have to update configs?

He's asking if anything will change when the new core comes online on Sept 27th.

Its the NJ Firemens convention, if a chief or radio that is on NJICS is on in Wildwood this weekend, would they be able to communicate back to Bergen or Passaic County as if they were not a hundred plus miles apart? Would an 'on" radio then link/affiliate to that radio's home area?

Doubt it. It would probably get the “no comms.” Why would a firefighter in north jersey need access to sites hundreds if miles away. Maybe a county over I would understand. Not sure exactly how it works, but that
would be my guess.

Unless they have been granted statewide access, most likely that talkgroup will NOT affiliate with any sites in the south. Certain talkgroups are statewide (statecom etc) but the muni talkgroups...probably not.

What specific TG’s are on the Chief’s radio from the NJICS excluding municipal?

Unless authorized on the Cape May System should not work. Depends on their allowance, which likely would be a no in most cases.

Seeing a lot of new or changed RIDs with the update today. RWJ is using 13000xxx while NJ Transit PD is using 10732xxx. Looks like NJSP and other state consoles are now using 99xxx RIDs also.

Guess I'm gonna have to re-learn a new numbering scheme.

Consoles changed today from windows 7 to windows 10 and the new consoles of course have new RID's to go with them.
