4525 showed up today on either Wall or Barnegat (most likely Wall) at around 1:15ish PM. Around the same time I heard REMU talking about a site being overloaded or something along those lines on the NJICS Wall site REMU 30 talkgroup.

Caught TOC South again a couple of hours ago. Was too quick to see which site.

Anything new with this system? I'm sitting here in Newark with a TP Maintenance Foreman's Motorola APX 4000 listening to the system, while my WS 1080 scanner hardly picks anything up. Something isn't right.

Can you go through the radio and tell us what's programmed?

He left to do a road closing. When I see him again, I'll look at it more carefully. I did look thru the "Zones" programmed into it, and a few stood out because they seem to be dead spots for me here. "Jersey City" Secaucus", "Newark", etc. There were also the expected Northern Division, Southern Division, and districts down south.

The Jersey City, Newark, ans Secaucus named talkgroups are the various District numbered talkgroups. That's what we need to complete the database so next time you talk to him, have him go through the talkgroups and write down the specific order they are in on a list and let us know. This will help dramatically with monitoring them for ops, snowplowing, etc. My contact retired earlier this year and moved out of state.

Also, the closest tower to that area is Bloomfield and Woodbridge. Under the LTR Passport 220 MHz system, they had a tower in Bayonne. Why they did not put an 800 MHz tower there for the P25 system is beyond me...

Yep something isn't right for sure. The two major scanner manufacturers refuse to fix it. Until they step up to the plate and properly design a scanner the demodulates phase II simulcast systems we are all stuck with very poor phase II receive.

I'll see if I can find him again this week. ;)

The Motorola was loud and clear. The scanner sounded like it was on the fringe of the signal and it was also missing transmissions.

I believe the microwave dishes are for the 220 LTR Passport system that is being decommissioned.

That might be Talkgroup 37. I'm still in the process of verifying the TP talkgroups as I hear them, as my contact retired last year.

NJ TA Site 15 Toms River

Site 15: Toms River (Submission made). Now if the Turnpike Authority can add a Site 16 in Bayonne to provide better coverage on the TP Extension near Exit 14, they would then have full coverage all over the Highway system. :)

Guess I got my wish, they just need to increase the output power. 50 Watts isn’t cutting it here....

I know this post is a few months old,
I tried 2 different scanners for the phase 2 systems I wanted to monitor, both were horrible dropping the control channel and missing a lot of traffic. I’m waiting for unication to come out with the updated firmware , hopefully soon for the g4/g5. I have heard a lot of great things about the difference in reception of this little pager vs the scanners out there.

GM,

Can you post the talkgroups that you have verified or are they all in the data base ?

On the Parkway side heard Clifton and Clark during this last storm on Saturday
which is already in the database.

Thanks for your help.
