Anything new going on with this system? I'm not picking anything up on this system on the northern end of the Turnpike, or the Turnpike Bayonne Extension area.

Does anyone know if a Toms River site is planned? It seems there's quite a few dead zones between Wall and Barnegat.

Also, those of you with PSR-800/WS1080 based scanners, how do you have this system set up? I have mine set up with the trunking tables type as "auto fill" and whenever I'm around a site for this, I always see the scanner tuning to an improper frequency like 854.050 or the like.

With the GRE PSR 800/Radio Shack Pro 668 type scanners, I use the Auto Fill mode and then after I have voice activity on the site, I read the scanner back into the programming software, check to see if the Band Plan has populated in the Custom section, and then write back to the scanner, choosing the Custom table. That worked much better for me than using Auto Fill all of the time. I also set the DSP setting to around 75 I believe. Try that and see if it works.

Also, as far as what I know, there are no other planned sites to be added to the system. There are a few dead spots; I'm not sure what they are going to do about that yet, as I agree there is a long stretch from the Wall site to Barnegat for coverage, as well as the Bayonne/Jersey City extension area at the Northern Terminus. Also keep in mind that the system uses directional antennas to keep the signal within a small area to cover the Highways, instead of the old wide area coverage antennas we are all so use to.

Thank you for the detailed reply! Any chance you can post a screenshot of the custom trunking tables you're using?

Thank you! Everything after that is blank or just default chan-lo/hi and offsets?

I tried listening again but am still having the same issue, even using those tables. It appears the site this is happening with is Wall. Attached is a picture of how I have it set-up and I uploaded videos here and here of what's actually happening. Anyone have any idea what I'm doing wrong? Thanks!

Try enabling FlexStep in the global options.

It's been a long while since I've played with a PSR-800, but I seem to recall that if FlexStep isn't enabled, it won't tune properly to some trunked voice channels that it doesn't think are the "standard" channels for that band. Instead, it would tune to the nearest channel based on the bandplan spacing.

Since this system uses oddball 6.25 kHz spaced channels in the 800 MHz range, instead of the normal 12.5 kHz spaced channels, it could be confusing the scanner.

Looks like some type of work may be starting at the Exit 83 tower, there's a lift parked in the yard and there's 2 cables hanging off the tower.

Just heard a dispatcher on Parkway Maintenance Central tell all units to switch to the "Clark Zone." Heard some radio checks on talkgroup 16 but not sure if that's the Clark Zone or something else. Anyone closer to Union County able to monitor? I'm hearing all of this on Barnegat.

16 appears to be some type of maintenance talkgroup. They're mentioning things about signs in the road in the area of the Barnegat Parkway exit.

Are you able to run Unitrunker on the Wall site, Eli? I've been running Pro96Com on the Barnegat site for the past few hours and found a couple new talkgroups that we haven't seen before (16 and 21). Probably the best time to do it is now into the later morning.

From the database page:

The jurisdictional limits of the Turnpike’s Maintenance Department Districts are as follows:
District 1: Mile 0 to Mile 27
District 2: Mile 27 to Mile 50
District 3: Mile 50 to Mile 67.2 and Pearl Harbor Memorial Turnpike Extension
District 4: Mile 67.2 to Mile 90
District 5: Mile 90 to Mile 105
District 6: Mile 105 to Mile E118
District 7: Newark Bay-Hudson County Extension and Interchange 14
District 8: Mile 105 to Mile W118 and north of Turnpike on I-95 (Mile 118 to Mile 122)

The jurisdictional limits of the Turnpike’s Maintenance Roadway Divisions are as follows:
Southern Division: Mile 0 to Mile 67.2 including Pearl Harbor Memorial Turnpike Extension
Northern Division: Mile 67.2 to Mile 122 including Newark Bay – Hudson County Extension

The jurisdictional limits of the Turnpike’s Trades Divisions are as follows:
Southern Division: Mile 0 to Mile 53.3 (Interchange 7)
Central Division: Mile 53.3 to Mile 90 (Interchange 11)
Northern Division: Mile 90 to Mile 122 (Northern terminus)

The jurisdictional limits of the Parkway’s Maintenance Yards are as follows:
Yard 1 (Paramus): Mile 172.3 to Mile 160.1
Yard 2 (Clifton): Mile 160.1 to Mile 150.5
Yard 2U (Union): Mile 150.5 to Mile 141.5
Yard 3 (Clark): Mile 141.5 to Mile 125.0
Yard 4 (Telegraph Hill): Mile 125.0 to Mile 106.4
Yard 4H (Herbertsville): Mile 106.4 to Mile 91.8
Yard 5 (Ocean): Mile 91.8 to Mile 63.8
Yard 6 (White Horse): Mile 63.8 to Mile 30.2
Yard 7 (Swainton): Mile 30.2 to Mile 0.0

I'm almost 100% certain that Talkgroup 19 is the Clark Yard Ops, but need further monitoring to confirm. So in the case of Talkgroup 16, it's probably the Ocean Yard Ops. Running Unitrunker on Telegraph Hill site last night, I did see some activity on Talkgroup 19 (suspected Clark Yard Ops), but nothing on Talkgroup 16.

Also, I have Talkgroup numbers 1, 4, 5, 9, 10, 13-23, 25-30, 33-51 registered in my unitrunker over the past year of running the system on and off. I haven't had the time to post them in the wiki yet. And from what I was told, each district and yard/area on the GSP and TP have their own talkgroup.
