I have confirmed the local police have moved to digital leaving the ems and fire on analog. unfortunate for the ems and fire because they can no longer communicate with law enforcement directly.

I have not been able to determine the type of digital signal as of yet, but some new toys are going to help with that.. I suspect p-25 II, whatever it is Ill be listening again soon enough. and Ill keep you all updated. for now if you are not pleased with the transition to digital then I suggest getting a cheap usb sdr and downloading dsd (25 USD) for all you need to start listening to digital radio.
Enjoy!

Battle Mountain has a police department? Or are you talking county sheriff? I didn't think BM was quite big enough to support its own PD. I've seen NHP on the main streets of Battle Mountain running radar, but I don't recall seeing anybody else. But I've not been that way for a year.

If someone is charging you to download DSD or DSDPlus you're getting ripped off. Its free. The dongle itself is about 10 bucks.

Everyone has been aware of RTL-SDR and DSD/DSDPlus for some time now. Most of us also have scanners capable of monitoring P25 P1 and a lot have P25 PII scanners as well.

Many of us use combinations of all to listen to stuff and some even have professional radios to assist with hearing traffic.

Jumping to conclusions is a bad idea here so maybe chilling out a bit and reading more would be a better way to go.

It's messed up here in battle mountain, I hear the dispatcher on analog then I hear the same person a minute later on p25 p1 digital. I'm confused...

Very weird. I often hear simulcasting over old conventional channels but never a delay. (I presume it is the exact same broadcast?)
