I am so new to this that I have just barely figured out how to turn one of these on. I have the Radio Shack (RS) Pro-164 and had RS do some programming for me. I have the Scancat.com frequency disk and another "enhanced" Scancat.com disk being mailed to me. I have a 20-047 Interface Cable that RS swore would work with my Vista 64 machine (it doesn't).
I asked a manager at RS to program Lakewood FD/PD, Tacoma FD/PD and Olympia FD/PD which he did into Banks 0, 1, 2, and 3. I forgot all about WSP, Pierce County Sheriff and a ton of other stuff.
The manual appears to be written in a language I don't comprehend....
What I'd like to know is if there are any classes out there that can teach me about some of this stuff..or are there any references materials (Scanners for Dummies type stuff) that I can look at and for that matter, is there someone who can tell me something about this Pro-164. I'd really like to know how to program it myself so I don't have to go running to RS everytime I need something done.
I am hoping that someone local can give me some help.
