Came across this new DMR "Tier III(MOT)" aka Motorola Capacity Max system recently.

System ID is 9 (DSD+ reads "S9-(site)" where S is for "Small"). This system ID is the same as Apple's DMR Tier III system so originally I thought it was them, however it's actually likely Fisher Wireless building out a new MotoTrbo Capacity Max system in parallel with their existing MotoTrbo Connect Plus system. This is because the two frequencies identified below were both common to Fisher's Connect Plus system but don't appear to be in use anymore on sites 119-2 and 119-3, and the new system shares Fisher's systemwide color code 3.

Haven't seen any talkgroup activity yet, but here's what idling control channels can tell us:

451.72500cc, DMR Tier III(MOT), color code 3, site S9-2 - Location: Mt Woodson?
454.13125cc, DMR Tier III(MOT), color code 3, site S9-3 - Location: Mt Otay?

DSD+ on site S9-3 454.13125cc yields the following:

TIII(MOT) Site: S9-3 RAS NL:1, 2, 4

Neighbors:
S9-4, CC=1
S9-1, CC=25
S9-2, CC=43 (alternating with CC=45)

I haven't found sites S9-1 or S9-4 yet, or the LCN for 454.13125, but it looks like so far it's only a 4 site system.

Example DSD+ log:

SYS_Parms: SysCode=01.0001001.00011; Registration req'd; CSC=0

Can the letter designator in the system ID change as the system is built out? I would assume Fisher would get the (H)uge designator based on its size, but maybe it’s based on on-air sites and can dynamically change overtime?

I don't know for sure, but it seems like something you should be able to do dynamically as the system is built out rather than have planned ahead.

It's also worth noting that when Fisher still had their LTR Passport system, San Diego was the first place we noticed MotoTrbo Connect Plus going on the air (and thus the lowest site numbers on the system). So this could be the humble beginnings of another monster system. :)

Got a talkgroup hit on Site S9-2 today but didn’t find the voice channel in time (on my SDS-100). Talkgroup format was 320xxxxx.

Note that Apple has a worldwide networked DMR Tier III Motorola Capacity Max system which also uses network 9 but is separate from this new system. However I just got a hit on a new site of theirs in the San Diego area as well.

New Apple site:

461.5625cc “DMRT3” (on SDS-100), net 9h, site 39, Color Code 0

Note that both these capacity max systems will be co-mingling in the SD area. The only way to tell them apart as far as I can tell is the color code 0 vs color code 3.

Cool find, I better start taking notes soon on the new system. :)

Haha I love it! You‘ve got the threads set up and ready to go for each site. :)

I think S9-2 and S9-3 are Mt Woodson and Mt Otay, but need to do some more work to confirm.

The connect plus system has another east county site, 119-61 that still needs to be figured out. Cuyamaca Peak perhaps?
