That’s a great deal, the R30 is the best money I’ve spent in years. Really versatile, solid build quality.

Congrats, your going to enjoy it. should have ordered the battery pack that uses AA batteries. Never know when you will need it.

Yes, I should get that battery pack. Maybe down the road. software, bluetooth headset, and a Zumspot, was enough today.

How do you like the Bluetooth earbuds? They ain't cheap :)

I don't use the Icom earbuds, I use a pair of Jabra Elite 65t, they work great. I also use them with my iPhone, so they don't get a second look..

Very interested in this. Haven't seen much discussion lately, but some folks have had mixed experiences on the programming software. Any recent experiences on Butel or RT Systems software or is the ICOM package the best choice at this time?

I can't speak for the RT or ICOM sofware, but I'm using Butel ARC30 (have since beta). It gets the job done, pretty simple and intuitive, and best of all works with RR database import with my Premium subscription.

I bit the bullet and bought the Icom software, works great IMO. The installation can be confusing, you have to upgrade the firmware before programming.

Nothing much has changed.

The Icom software is very fast, you'll need to learn their engineers idea of a user interface. If you have other Icom products, it's similar. Impost and export CSV. Most expensive. Access to all radio menu/functions. Did I mention fast!

RT Systems, slow, common interface, import freqs from online sources. Interface is common with their other products, copy and paste from other RT products. Access to all radio menu/functions. medium priced.

Butel, writes to the SD card, constant swapping back and forth SD cards. NO Access to any of the radio functions, just the 'channels'. Import from external DB, least expensive.
