This was discussed two years ago, and it looks like it has finally happened. Rural metro has a new Channel 1 (150.830 110.9 PL). They are doing dispatching on channel 1, and then moving responses to channel 2. If you listen to Rural Metro in Maricopa or Pinal Counites, it's time to update your scanners.

Below is the previous thread. In the past, there were other frequency testing occurring. I have not heard any of the past frequencies there were being used for testing active lately, but there might be other changes. I'm likely not in range if there are other local transmitters in Cave Creek, Fountain Hills, West County, San Tan Valley, etc which are covered by Rural Metro.

I haven't yet heard 150.8300 active. I have it programmed in. I've even tried searching the range 150.7000-151.5000. (I'm doing so as I type this.) And nothing.

I can hear 154.3700 ch 2 and 155.3850 ch 9.

As an aside, my GRE PSR-500's pre-programmed VHF-High public safety search includes:
150.7750
150.7875
150.8000
150.8050
150.9950
151.0025-151.4975

Maybe it was a firmware glitch by GRE, but 150.8300 isn't in there. I haven't looked at Part 90 to see if 150.8300 is public safety or business.

My PRO-43 (on battery power) sitting on top of a bookcase can pick it up.
My PSR-500 and SDS-100 at nightstand level next to my bed (and plugged into an AC outlet) cannot. If I unplug and move the 500 a few feet away, it can then receive it. I'm waiting for another dispatch to see if the same holds true for the 100.

I think my manufactured home has foil-backed insulation in the walls that may be part of the issue.

I haven’t heard anyone or anything on the new frequency. The 370 (old dispatch is strong and clear. They maybe using it since I’m no longer hear ding dispatches on the 370.

I added the new RMFD Dispatch frequency to the mobile today. No problem with receiving the channel in the vehicle however, the signal strength is weak sitting in the driveway. So, I guess my rube goldberg interior antenna setup is not going to cut it to receive the dispatching. LOL

Like most of you, I am also noticing worse reception on channel 1 compared to the old channel 2. Possibly lower power or different antenna/radiation pattern.

Ch 1 150. 830 Dispatch
CH 2 154.370 Routine Response

Goes all way to regional Tac, training etc.

Plus in vehicle repeater that will eventually connect to First Net. Engines use that on wildland fires in other states. They can use their portable radios to dispatch as if they were here.

The transmitter for channel 1 may have had improvements made to it, as my PSR-500 seems to be receiving it this afternoon with no changes to its location.
