The UHF band does not do T-Band frequencies, which would make it pretty useless in the Boston area.

It is a mono bander. You have to buy 2 of them to receive VHF and UHF so now you are into 280 bucks. And you will only have 10 channels...5 on each receiver...and there is no speaker?....Does not sound like a deal to me..I am a Fire fighter and when I am not on duty I carry a Alinco DJ-C7T/E 150 bucks shipped. It has 10 times the receive that little pager thingy has. 200 channel memory. It has Transmit. If I take my family to a mall they can use them little cheap FRS radios and I can talk to them and still monitor the Police and Fire. Just a suggestion.

Very interesting little radio. I'd get one just to play with it.

BTW, it is not a 2 way radio as the site states .

Oops, guess I should read the whole thread before responding. Looks like someone beat me to the punch.

LOL

i remember a few years back someone was trying to market something very similiar for race tracks. the radio was almost the size of an alpha pager like the motorola advisor elite. Fact is you can't enter your own freqs so if you scan you have to listen to all the bs and if they dont have your freq in the unit you are sol. the item I saw a few years ago is obviously not out there anymore so that says something Plus with these, it appears you would have to buy two seperate units if you wanted to monitor both vhf and uhf and to be frank for that abount of money you can buy a programable scanner. maybe it would be worth something to someone who really doesn't listen that much but for me to buy it would be senseless
