Just caught sight of Glasgow's new EC135 helo as I was passing by the airport. He lifted off and headed for the Medical Center. Good look'n machine. Did not have the scanner with me though. They are still using 155.265 for STATCARE 2.

New STATCARE base aids Oldham

New STATCARE base aids Oldham

A new STATCARE helicopter based in Trimble County is good news for Oldham County residents who need emergency care.

"This gives us faster, better coverage in the case of a traumatic event" like a bad wreck, said Lance Vincent, director of Oldham County Emergency Medical Service and a flight paramedic.

The new helicopter service is in addition to one out of Louisville, which has been serving Oldham County since the 1980s.

"We've always been protected by STATCARE out of Louisville, but the good thing about the Trimble County base is we now have one on the opposite end of the county -- we now have 24/7 coverage with two aircraft instead of one," Vincent said.

Based next to the Milton Fire & Rescue Station on U.S. 421 between Bedford and Milton, the new hub began operating last month and has been averaging two to three calls a day to Northern Kentucky and Southern Indiana, said Allison Simpson, outreach coordinator for STATCARE.

"It has decreased the response time tremendously," Simpson said.

An open house for the new helicopter base is set for Saturday. Visitors can see the $4.3 million chopper and learn about the services it helps provide. There will be free food, and staff members will answer questions.

Each of the helicopters can carry two patients, plus a crew of three. They can cruise at about 160 mph.

Bobby Thacker, who is a STATCARE flight paramedic and a city commissioner in Goshen, said he is happy about the expanded coverage in part because the north end of Oldham County does not have an advanced life-support paramedic stationed there.

The Milton-based helicopter is closer to many areas in Oldham County, Thacker said, and it is a backup in case the other helicopter is out on a call.

The STATCARE service was started by downtown Louisville hospitals in 1982; its main base is at Bowman Field. A second hub was added near Interstate 65 in Glasgow in 1999.

New Statcare Info

Im a Firefighter in Trimble County and from the talk within the agencys in the county they are looking to get another frequency or are already in the process of getting another one. They are still operating off the louisville channel 155.4000 203.5 I also work for yellow and picked up on of the crews from there at u of l helipad they said it saves alot of response time and saves lives as well when time matters. but for the local freqs are far as trimble county is 159.2550 110.9 for bedford link, repeater 156.2400 186.2, and old fire 154.1450 no pl/dpl. any questions give a buzz or drop a letter and see if I can help:cool:

Stat Care & PHI

I know that Stat Care is running off 155.400 but dont know the PL tone for it. I know I herd alot of traffic from when they were in Seymour but havent heard anything lately except for when they do a pick up or something. Also PHI in North Vernon is active but I dont know what frequency they are using. I will get the freqencies and post them soon as I get them. I also know that Bartholomew County has LifeLine at Columbus Regional Hopistal now since PHI left and went to North Vernon. Also PHI changed there name to Dove Flight so that might be why the frequency has changed. I normally just these frequencies porgramed in my scanner and not my two way radio.

Thanks
