To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:
Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.
If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.
For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

I didn't get a chance to stop by their booth at APCO, but broadband integration is where the industry is going, so that would not be surprising. Their previous solution was novel, but kind of a bandaid. I know there are others on this site that were there, maybe they can confirm.

Did anyone happen to stop by the FirstNet booth and see the Siyata SD9? Anyone happen to notice the Tait antennas on them? (hint, hint; wink, wink)
For those unaware, the SD9 is Siyata's new LTE/LMR portable and is available in All-Band configuration. Conventional P25 only, no P25 encryption function today. Seems to based on the RF board from a TP9900.

That was an interesting radio, and, no I didn't catch the Tait antenna.
A good sign that the industry sees LTE first, LMR second as a path for some users. I know GSP is doing it with their XL-200's and I know a few other agencies doing the same thing.

No LTE... I spoke with the Tait folks, and this new model is called the TP99E. It's just a TP9900 with a refreshed housing design. They said the Axiom RSM would still be required for cellular.

Was this a prototype? I didn't get a chance to drop into the Tait or Motorola booth, so didn't see it. I did see a nice prototype radio in the EFJ booth.
That is a bit disappointing but it does square with what I'd heard about the thing at a previous trade show.
It was a prototype as far as I'm aware. What did EFJ have to show off? I know that both a cellular-enabled VP and a cut-down/smaller VP were supposedly in the works.

If you asked them nicely, they had a VP8000S, which is the same size as the non-S, but has a smaller top and a one line top display. Aimed at non-fire users that don't need a big honkin glove design radio on their hip. Thank @Project25_MASTR for that.
No LTE in their radios that I saw. Their approach is to use mobile extend back to a VM-8000 in the vehicle. The mobile would use higher power, or have a network connection into a Sierra Wireless/Cradlepoint. For the handhelds on their own, hotspot to the cell phone.
Seems like Japan isn't on board with the LTE thing yet….
Updated NX/VP5000 coming early next year with WiFi for Viking Connect, no idea on other features.
I don't think so. I held it, and it seemed to be a fully functioning device. The sales rep said they could get us one to demo within a few weeks.
