New to Pro 96

Please tell me what to do.

Thanks for sending me this information but to be completely honest I would not have a clue what to do with all that information. Do I just use the information from my county? How do I go about getting all that information into the Win96 software. Is there no set of directions that tells you step by step what to do? It seem as tho everyone that responds to my posts give me a different set of directions. Last night someone told me to maually program the numbers into my scanner and I did that but I am not getting much from the scanner. This is the first time I have seen this thing you sent me. There are no directions anywhere on that page. I simply dont know what to do. I would appreciate it if you could tell me what to do, I am sorry to be a pain. I think maybe I should just take it back to Radio Shack & have them program it, but then there was the one guy that told me RS has no clue so I guess I cant do that either. Thanks so much for takiing the time to help me.

Take the file FMON gave and download it and save it to disk, then Unzip it, usually by double clicking it or launching it, it will create a file called Chippewa Co Mi.p96, then open win96 and do a file open then pick the file Chippewa Co MI.p96. This will load the data into the program. Then Upload to scanner. According to the information in the database here most of Chippewa County has moved to MPSCS. Bank 0 in FMON's file has the MPSCS sites for your county and bank 1 has the old conventional data, which per the database is not being used much. For more information click on the WIKI at the top of the page here and look at Trunking Basics. Most of the UP is on the MPSCS system which is a large trunked system for Michigan Public service ( ie. PD and FD, plus state and federal). If you're still lost on this PM me and maybe I can help.

Take the file FMON gave and download it and save it to disk, then Unzip it, usually by double clicking it or launching it, it will create a file called Chippewa Co Mi.p96, then open win96 and do a file open then pick the file Chippewa Co MI.p96.

Or open Chippewa Co MI.p96 by
1. Right Click
2. Select Open with>Win96 Scanner Utility.
3. Plug your cable into PC and scanner and turned on Pro-96
4. Press Ctrl + U
5. observe the scanner display
6. when complete, remove cable, scanner will reboot and start scanning banks 0 & 1.

Thanks to both of you for the step by step directions but I of coarse I ran ionto a multitude of problems as nothing with this sccanner has been easy of enjoyable and I am begining to get very fustrated. When I clicked on the pro96_preload-revc folder that I had already saved in my documents I got 10 word files, here is an example of what one of them says, v8a_k5k_il-mi-in. When I clicked on any of these files it opened a window with a bunch of weird looking letters, it was ineligable. So I went back to the original post from FMON as I was going to download the file again and now it is not on the post. I am really sorry that I am having so much trouble and I want you both to know how much I appreciate your help. I then made a post for my area to see if I could find someone to help me here and I put it under the wraon category and now it is locked & I cant get into it. It seems it does not matter what I do this hole thing is getting very fustrating. I hate to ask for more help as at this point it is getting imbarassing that I cant do this thing that everyone says is so simple. I never seen a file that said Chippewa co Mi p96.
