Well your backtracking as I also did in my reply about you looking at lower costs.
Do understand im in Michigan and not as up on happening's for NC so I had to do some searching.
I did find this post about NC Viper going Phase II in 2025-
VIPER Statewide Radio System Discussion | Page 18 | RadioReference.com Forums
VIPER is planning on switching to Phase II in 2025. January 2020, they will no longer accept non-Phase II capable radios such and the Motorola XTL and XTS series for new IDs, and in Janurary 2022, non-flashed Phase II ready programmable radios will no longer be accepted for new IDs

Far as the mototrbo/nxdn at least 'currently' none is listed for your county.

I would recommend a phase 2 scanner. According to the VIPER newsletter states that they plan on going to P2 in 2025. Oh, just a heads up, the system for MCAS Cherry Point is fully encrypted.

Just a small correction, it doesn't say they are going Phase 2 in 2025, it just said all radios joining the site must be Phase 2 compatible.

My opinion, NO. The cost is high and I often hear complaints they don't get all the services programmed correctly. While some people stumble through the programming process and the software there is plenty of people on here who will help you learn it. Once you learn it you are then able to make changes/updates when you want.

For $15 for 6 months or $30 for 1 year on here you can download with freescan any and all with a premium account vs. $70 for only ONE county and learning how to do it ... PRICELESS!! RadioReference Network Premium Subscription

Watch the videos - From FreeScan User Guide - The RadioReference Wiki
Just be sure to select in freescan ID Scan and not ID Search. You can change it on the scanner by FUNC and SCAN.

I downloaded FreeScan 2.18.......
I would suggest that you upgrade FreeSCAN to an updated version. If I remember correctly, you need to first install the 2.18 version that you've already downloaded. Then extract the FreeSCAN.exe file for FreeSCAN 2.19b1 from the attached file & copy that into the folder where FreeSCAN was installed.

There was a small update to FreeSCAN, done by another forum member.

However, while his updated version (2.19) does allow you to correctly set up conventional DMR channels, there are still a number of issues for DMR trunked systems, and as txengr noted, no support at all for NXDN. Also, conventional channel web import (from RadioReference) does not work on version 2.19. (It does on 2.18 or 2.19b1)

If you have, or intend to get, the DMR or NXDN upgrades, you would need to use either ProScan or ARC-XT. I prefer ProScan, since it supports a larger number of Uniden scanners than ARC-XT.
