The new Little River site (74) is only 4 miles from the Wendell site (62). They are using different frequencies, but why would 2 VIPER sites be so close together. Will site 62 be retired?
Did you receive any radio traffic from that tower because I don’t get anything but the cc.Did monitory new Wake Co Viper Little River site 74 for a couple hours this morning using Pro98. Confirming the frequencies in the DB are correct. CC is 859.4625 and alt is 858.4625. License is WRAV325, Phase 1, 1FC-074. Adjacent sites are: 102- Archers Lodge Johnston Co, 104- Bailey Wilson Co, 131- Margaret Franklin Co, 135- Nash DOC Nash Co, 162- Wendell AAA Wake Co, 166- Youngsville Franklin Co, and 167- Wake North Durant Wake Co. The Tower is North East about 1.5 Miles from the intersection of US264 and US96, off the road about 500 yards.

Hmmmm.... Interesting. Thing is I'm getting a strong signal from VIPER but not transmissions whatsoever. If you're receiving traffic perhaps I need to check CC's.... Thanks for the input Murray!I just traveled from Raleigh to the outer banks and heard lots of Troop A from Williamston to Hatteras with no issues Unication G5
VIPER is planning on switching to Phase II in 2025. January 2020, they will no longer accept non-Phase II capable radios such and the Motorola XTL and XTS series for new IDs, and in Janurary 2022, non-flashed Phase II ready programmable radios will no longer be accepted for new IDsDon't think they will start Phase 2 until next year is what I'm hearing.

Agencies that have their own system can do whatever they want. If the radio will work with Phase II, it will work for phase I. That being said, some systems will upgrade to stay on the same page, however, there is a cost in doing that. I did confirm a system like the Charlotte UASI will be going phase II around the same time as VIPER is scheduled to. To keep up with VIPER, you would just need a phase II capable scanner. If you wait, the prices on those scanners will probably be decreasing in the next few years. If VIPER is going to Phase 2 around 2025, does that include agencies who have their own systems required to upgrade to phase 2 as well or its backwards compatible and would i need to get the latest and greatest scanner to keep up with the system?
I caught the tail end of chatter on TGID 61431 with RID of 2990076. Any idea who/what this is? I'll continue to monitor to see if I can figure it out.
That's a new one to me, Highest Fed TG I've monitored is 60xxx with 291xxxx for RID
