The submission I got on this wasn't very clear, but those appear to be three new voice freqs on the 2BB system Site 26. If anyone could advise whether airport PD is using Motorola X2-TDMA / P25 Phase II TDMA, and what talkgroups have been seen, that would be appreciated.

I tried the remote and not hearing anything on site 26. I should be hearing from my location however. not doubting you...just saying.

site 25 had CC activity only.

Not doubting me one way or the other... I'm in southern CA so I have no way to verify.

But the submission we got was just that list of frequencies with no clarification on site number or sys ID, but I was able to match it to site 26. However if site 26 doesn't actually exist... then that's a problem. :)

Yes, I can confirm it exists on my PSR-500. The current control channel is 774.90625. On the bottom row of the display, it says 2BB R001 S026 and alternates with N2B6 W:BEE00.

Talkgroups observed:
6001: SFO Police Traffic Control (was on 860.4625 CT 151.4), encrypted
6002: SFO Police (was on 859.4375 CT 151.4), encrypted
6021: SFO Fire re-broadcast (still on 453.775, CT 67.0), clear for now
6041: SFO Operations (now re-broadcast on 453.200, CT 67.0), dispatch clear/mobiles encrypted

6001 and 6002 were observed last year. Whenever they cut over, they re-broadcast the analog audio on the talkgroup first, radio ID's are 0. Then, the users start using the digital radios and the digital audio is re-broadcast on the old frequency. Eventually, encryption is turned on and the re-broadcast on the old frequency is turned off.

So for SFO Operations, they are nearing the last phase where they are all using digital (unique radio ID's), the re-broadcast of the digital audio is still on the old frequency and they started encrypting mobiles already.

I just noticed SFO Fire pop up on the digital system recently. It appears to be a re-broadcast of the analog audio. All radio ID's are 0 for now.

If my records are correct, 453.375 CT 151.4 should be the next user to go.

Please feel free to submit those to the DB.

I submitted those to the DB, though you can do it as well.

question, how can you confirm the usage on some of these if they are encrypted?

As I said before, those talkgroups weren't always encrypted. From what I observed, they will re-broadcast the analog audio on the talkgroup first. Eventually, actual digital radios are on the talkgroup. Then, the digital audio is re-broadcast on the old conventional frequency. Next, encryption is added to the mobile units. Eventually, it becomes fully encrypted and the conventional re-broadcast turned off.

Yeah, I can pick up Site 25 (city simulcast) from here and there's no activity, just the CC announcing the 3 alternates. It does, however, indicate Phase I channel access, which suggests that the system doesn't even have X2 / Phase II capability at the moment.

Update

Airport Operations and Fire are no longer simulcast on the old conventional channels. Maintenance has abandoned their frequency (453.375) and moved to the old operations frequency (453.200). DB updated.

So, the SFO/SFPD Airport Bureau can't communicate with SFPD (city)?

SFPD Airport Bureau's radios should be compatible with the city's SmartZone system. However, the city's SmartZone radios would not be able to communicate on the SFO P25 system. As stated in the DB, it is unknown whether or not the conventional 800 MHz repeaters have been retained for interoperability.
