Apologies for asking questions that have probably already been asked many times, but I dud RTFM and searched the forums, but don't know enough to understand some of the options.

I am using Windows Pro 10, and I have a Micro SD card programmed for my area (Erie County PA). I am connected using ethernet cable and streaming through Broadcastify. I have been able to figure out most of the things, but there are a few that I am puzzled about.

How do you get a listing of the UIDs that have been identified, and how do you get the SDS200 to display them? I entered a few Unit IDs in one of the Favorites list using ProScan, but the "text tags" (which I believe are called Unit ID Name in ProScan?) don't seem to show up on the displays. I am using the Simple display versions rather than the Detailed versions if that has anything to do with it?

And a similar question for Metadata. I currently have it set to come from the SDS200, but I am not seeing the same things that I have seen on others. For example, there is a feed from a nearby area that displays both the sender and the receiver radio information in the metadata, but I don't see any way to do that in ProScan using the info from the options available.

I have seen some references to importing files and data from RR, but since I have the SD card already programmed with a lot of the info from Bearcat, I don't want to do anything that will destroy that information. Sorry for the lengthy post, but I wanted to give as much information as possible to get help with my issues. I am a volunteer FF and we are setting this up primarily for our own department members, so we will be somewhat limiting the numbers of TGs and FREQs that we are scanning. Thank you.

As for the Metadata.... under the "Web Server" tab, select the "Main" tab there, then click the "Metadata Source" button...

Make your selections on the Metadata Source popup window. All available pre-set choices are shown on that page.

You can also customize the metadata using these 2 other choices:

While Proscan is running, click on "Support" from the top menu bar, and then "Manual". Click on "Metadate Setup" in the contents list at the top of the manual to access detailed instructions for setting up the metadata choices.

Any list you find would be user created. Take a look in the wiki and maybe you will be lucky where someone posted that info under the system your looking at.

Simple or Detail trunk does not matter at all.

You program radio / unit id's into the Unit Id's tab in the favorites list like shown here.

Then you need to add the UID option in your display options via the scanner itself or with Sentinel.

1677022417458.png

Then it displays on the screen.

If using Sentinel or @ProScan , make sure you read the scanner, make your changes, then write back to the scanner..

Before you start experimenting, you can make a copy of everything on the SD card and put it in a folder on your computer (or copy it to another SD card) so you’ll always have a backup copy of the SD card as it came from the dealer.

Never hurts to have some spare SD cards:

Excellent suggestion, I should have done that already. I will do that before any further changes.

Keep in mind that the favorite lists you import are "sticky!" Every favorite list will appear in every profile. You can deactivate them in a given profile, but unless you delete the FL, it sticks around.

I did have some of the information in the metadata setup that I am using, but I will check the metadata setup. Thanks! I am attaching a copy of my metadata setup.

I do have a few listed in the Unit ID tab, but now that I think about it, I don't really need those to display on the scanner, since no one will probably ever be watching the scanner display because we are primarily going to be pushing this to the web. But, I do want the Unit ID Name from the table to be included in the metadata information that we send to the internet, so I need to figure that out.

I attached a screenshot of the few Unit ID that I have set up. I want the "Unit ID Name" from the table to be fed to the metadata rather then the Unit ID"

I have seen some references to the UID LOOKUP.TXT file. Does this essentially do what the table in the favorites does? Is one "better" than the other in some way?

Thanks - Steve

Is there a maximum SD card size that the scanner can work with? I don't expect to have to be using a ton of data or FLs, but I assume that I probably want the fastest card rather then the biggest card?

32 GB is the largest size "supported" by Uniden, but others have had success with larger ones. The "high" or "max" endurance rating is probably the most important quality. Even a small (8GB) card is good for most folks. The entire North American database that Sentinel loads onto the card only takes up around 52 MB.

Use %U1 for the UID name. ProScan will pick it up from the data sent from the scanner.

No. The UID Lookup.txt file is mainly used with the DMA types because the text tags are limited to 16 characters.

I was using %U1 but it didn't seem like it was getting what I am looking for, but maybe I didn't have my ID table built out enough. I just recently changed the metatag to %U2 since I thought that would give me the ID from the table instead of the regular radio id#, but do you mean that %U1 will get that from the table if it exists in the table?

Sorry for the late responses here. I recently had cataract removal surgery on both eyes (2 weeks apart) and I've been trying to be careful of too much strain, not to mention that I couldn't really focus clearly!

%U2 gives the Name after Lookup if I'm not mistaken.
That's what it says, but it didn't seem like it was getting any data at all for that variable. I think I might show U1, U2, and U3 to see what I am getting and make some notes on the results.

It's probably not that big of a deal since I think someone mentioned that of the desktop/laptop applications, only Winamp will show the metadata? Scanner PRO for my phone does show them, though, so I want to try to get it to display the alpha tags for any known UIDs.

Use %U1

Try this to see if the name is coming from the scanner.
1) Go to the Options - General tab then check the box "Scanner Data To 'Scanner Data.txt' File"
2) Click the OK button to close the Options window.
3) After the scanner stops on a channel with the UID, then use the File Explorer and view the Scanner Data.txt file.
4) Search for the xml element 'UnitID' and you should see a sub element called 'Name'. See if the UID Name shows.

Yes, I did see what I expected in the file for both the “text tag” and the radio ID number also, so it seems as though that is what I want. By description, I thought it would be %U2 (after lookup), but that field seems to be generally blank. Not sure what or where is being looked up there.

<UnitID Name="Engine 12" U_Id="UID:3210085" />

Does %U1 show Engine 12

{edit} Also the file lookup is more geared to the DMA type of scanner and the 'lookup' is looking up in the UID Lookup file which you don't need.

Another words, no lookup is needed as the scanner sends the UID name.

Sorry, yes "Engine 12" did show in the metadata for the %U1 tag, so that seems to be working OK. I have noticed that sometimes this doesn't change when a reply is being made relatively quickly to the same call. For example, %U1 might show "Dispatch" since the original call came from them, but when someone else replies, it continues to show "Dispatch" even though the reply might be coming from "Engine 12" (for example).

Good to know about the lookup stuff, I have been puzzling about whether there was something else I should have been doing to better deliver the tags.
