I got a reply from Sheri Nolan at Whistler on the missing serial number on my WS1080. She said as long as I have my receipt for the radio the missing serial number is no issue, said they will be addressing the issue of the numbers coming off so easily, also thanked me for making them aware of the numbers coming off.

Just got some new rechargeable batteries to test out in my WS 1080 as the set of Sanyo Eneloop XX were starting to give me charging issues after a 1 1/2 years of heavy use. Now I have a set of the Panasonic Eneloop Pro, Panasonic bought the rights to the Eneloop line. Just giving them a top off charge, they came with about 75% charge still in them. These are rated at 2550 mah. If these seem good I will get another set.

Small update with the WS 1080 using the Eneloop Pro rechargeable batteries. I have only done 1 full charge so far, since first use noted in previous post. These batteries look like they are going to be awesome. I installed these batteries fully charged at 11am today, the scanner has been running ever since, have the backlight on display only, set to come on every time it picks something up, conventional and digital, led light on EMS and FD calls. Almost at 11 hours now and the battery meter is only half way down. Looks like these are going to be good batteries.

I know it's off topic

I have the same charger and I'm using Sanyo 2450mah and Panasonic 2550 for the BCH436hp and I don't get 12 hours out of them. I do have a PSR800 I'll give it a shot see what I get out of that.

That's even better than my results. I got almost 11.5 hrs, before I got a low batt. warning when using some Powerex 2500mAH.

I am at the 12 hour mark now, battery meter is still half way down. If this is the way these batteries are I will definitely being getting another set. I ordered these through Target.com, I was surprised to see that Target sells Eneloop batteries, however they do not sell them in the stores at this time, and I do not know if they ever will.

One last pic for now, at the 12.5 hour mark and the battery meter just dropped down some.

Costco sells Eneloop batteries in AA and AAA with charger for $30.00. It's all in one package with lots of batteries in it.
What makes Eneloop batteries so special especially when you can use Alklaine batteries instead?

Another update with this scanner, I am having no issues with the radio itself, however I happened to look at the back of my radio and the serial number is now gone. Sent a email to Whistler about this with a picture included. I know that number was there when I registered the radio on their website. I now wish I would have taken a picture of the serial number when I first opened the box. I will wait and see what they say. Is anyone else seeing this issue? I do not use the belt clip very often and that may have contributed to the number coming off. Never had this issue with any scanner before.

What's the difference between the W-1080 and W-1095? They both get P-25 Phase 2?

These 4 Eneloop Pro's will probably outlast in their lifetime the use of 200 or more alkaline batteries. A quick search on Costco website turns up no Eneloop batteries, unless they have them in store only. I do not need a charger as I already have probably one of the best ones out as it is.

I just now got the low batt. warning, made it 13.5 hours on a charge, pretty impressive.

Yes they are in the Costco store and from what I understand not every Costco store carry the exact same merchandise.
Don't the alklines have any advantage to these Eneloop batteries? Won't Alklines last longer on hours used and keep their power alot longer than rechargeable batteries?

Go to Whistlers website, it shows all the specs there, also the 1095 is not available as of yet.

Whistler Group, Inc.

Just looked at specs of W1080 handheld and it is the only scanner Whistler has that gets P-25 Phase 2

So this means Uniden has 1 more scanner 536 which is a base station type that does get P25 Phase 2 so Whistler has some catching up to do in this area:
