I have a Whistler WS1065 scanner. I have been trying to program the scanner using WIN500 for Houston County, TN. I can go through the steps on WIN500 to select what I want to upload to the scanner and when I click "Import this System" I receive this message "This system type is not supported by the PSR-500. Trunking info will not be transferred, but you can import the system's frequencies in non-trunked (conventional) mode."

I have no idea what this message means or what I need to do. Will my scanner not work for the county I am wanting to listen to? I have read the forum and help sections on here trying to find out what I need to do but I am not having any luck. Can someone please help me with this? Also, I have tried importing using to the conventional frequencies but that doesn't seem to work either. I am not able to hear any of the talking on the scanner. Thank you.

Thank you for replying. What would be a scanner that supports the NXDN protocol used by that system?

I'm not sure. My current scanner is from the 1990's, however I do run various radio systems, including an NXDN trunked radio system. I haven't needed to purchase an NXDN programmable scanner since I just use my own work radios for that.

There are some excellent resources on this site, ask over on the Tennessee page and I'm sure you'll find someone that is actively monitoring that system that can give you better pointers than I can.

There -are- NXDN capable scanners out there.

The only current scanners capable of NXDN are from Whistler.
The TRX-1 is a hand-held, and the TRX-2 is a base/mobile model with a detachable face plate for remote mounting. Whistler has an available, free, firmware update that will enable NXDN.

I'm everywhere Focker!
I've closed all the other threads you started asking this same exact question. This is know as cross-posting and is against the Radio Reference rules and makes it difficult for people to help you when have multiple threads about the same subject.

Would I be able to download the firmware update on my current scanner that would enable NXDN?
