Newport News 'out of range' on Unication pager

Ever get it working?

Nope, still getting 'out of range' anywhere I go in the city and I've driven from Lee Hall to the shipyard.
Had other things needing to be done and my Uniden's are working so I am not (yet) totally deaf. But STARS hasn't helped with VSP and SSP encrypting the last week or so.
EDIT: The changes to STARS and the NNPD closing down the last open LE on the Peninsula, I may just update the G5's firmware and reprogram everything.

It's clear the issue is with your Unication. It's either the programming or perhaps a hardware issue. Encryption of tgs would not cause and Out of Range indication. If you have used an external antenna adapter in the past, it's likely the center pin as mentioned earlier.

Did you program other systems in the pager that are working?

As I stated before the Unications have great receive and guessing it's a programming issue. I think in the past we have been there with a programming error in these pager once or twice. Going forward it most likely something with the system parameters or maybe not assigning any system to go with the talkgroups on the knob position

I get down to this area sometimes in the work truck and will have to load Newport News into the G5 next time to see about it.

What’s your signal like for NN? I’m not too far from you off Route 5 towards Green Springs, I have to outside my house to get a signal for them, but when I do it’s booming

Yes, I don't live in that area, but deliver down there once and while.

Don't really know the signal strength with only being there for a short time.

It was good enough to have a good decode of the system.

In the short time monitoring heard a few fire dispatches and the training 1 talkgroup was active.

Well it has taken me some time to sit down and try this. I copied my Newport News knob position to another zone and knob in the PPS. Saved, loaded, rebooted, changed to the new zone and it @#&$&)(*&@# works.
Earlier I had no signal strength when I would change to the NN knob position, though with all the others as soon as I switched I would see signal bars, then it would grab the control channel and I'd be set.
Now to see if the system I put in the test zone in the same knob position works.
The system in the same knob position works, before I reprogrammed the pager I checked the NN system and still had nothing, now it works on both the test and original.
