Greetings to New England.

I am planning a trip to your region in the end of September (I know right? leaf peepers)

My question to the forum;
Can your local systems be monitored with an HT1550?
I have the impression that most of both states are now digital VHF, and I have an older XTS3000 but the 486 laptop I once used to program this has since died.

I still have my HT1550XLS with Red Battery and would like to program from your database, but only if it would even allow for monitoring.

My interest is primarily EMS, not so much for Law Enforcement.

analog or digital?

So am I incorrect in understanding that the majority of New Hampshire is digital now?

I see the Freq's in your database, but have the impression that you'd need a digital scanner (for example the BC 785D) as older conventional scanners won't monitor anymore.

If that's accurate, wouldn't the same apply for a two-way portable?

The HT1550 is analog only
My XTS3000 is digital.

Please help me out if I'm misunderstanding this region.

The majority of NH law enforcement uses P25. There are only 3 fire agencies that I can think of right now that utilize P25 on a regular basis (Nashua, Hudson and Lebanon).

As far as Central Vermont goes, we welcome all the leaf peepers and the fire/ems frequencies are analog.
Enjoy your trip, enjoy the colors, and if you're near the Newport area on a Sunday, check out the The East Side Restaurant & Pub - Newport VT. Fine Dining and Vermont Weddings on Lake Memphremagog and check out their Sunday Brunch. It's a great foliage area and the restaurant is right on the shore of Lake Memphremagog, Beautiful..... And you won't leave hungry.

Have a safe trip.

The large cities such as Manchester and Nashua are trunked, while the rest of the towns are on conventional VHF for the most part. I'd say the vast majority of PD is P25, while the majority of fire is just FM. NH state police are all VHF P25.
