Has anyone else noticed out there that the input channel to the USPS Inspectors (Repeater 415.05000 107.2) of 407.72500 is now P25 and ENC? I have been observing this for about a week now and can almost confirm that the signal is coming from both the Newark and Kilmer (Edison) repeaters. It also seems that there is data being sent over this channel inconjunction with encrypted voice, as my BC296D shows a P25 ENC LNK and P25 LNK (LNK meaning data as interpreted in the owners manual). I can confirm that during the Bio-Terror drill at Kilmer on Jun. 6, they were using analog mode; but now I have observed no activity on 415.05000 and the normal amount of communications (in ENC mode) on 407.72500 since Jun. 14, 2006. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
i get the same thing on my 296d to. link appears on certain freqs like 163.625 .

It has been noted that the Park Ops at Morristown NHP (164.47500) is now fully P25 compliant and monitorable at the current time. There were some issues earlier this year in which the digital was in place & in use, but was not decoding proplerly on digital scanners (even after fine tuning the scanner to receive it properly). According to a park employee, the digital mode went on-line just after New Years' 2006. There are times though that analog mode is used, but that may be coming to an end as more of the digital radios are installed. Update your notes, where applicable.

USPS Inspectors

Confirmed this morning that the USPS Inspectors are on the new repeater of 407.72500 in P25 mode. At the current time, ENC is being heavily used on this new freq.

Those Freqs that sybex posted come in loud and clear at Newark Airport, the TSA freqs and the Homeland Security freqs were four out of five bars in a moving car, with a rubber duck antena, as we sailed around and around that mess of roads trying to pick someone up. Nearly everything except the FBI freqs was Apco 25, this was almoast 6 months ago and Ive long since lost the list of confirmed freqs, but that list looks identical, Great Job Bud! Thanks for the accurate listings, I dont go down that way by car unless I have to, so it was an interesting excursion instead of a boring ride to the airport thanks to those freqs.

Hi Harley D and all,

Most if not all fed transmissions in Newark come from atop 1 Gateway Plaza, they've got quite an antenna farm up there. Since the building is clearly visible from the airport (What isn't?) it's no wonder the signals blew you away.

BTW, I worked there for 7 years and STILL had trouble getting through that plate of spaghetti even though I knew all the tricks. The FAA designator is EWR, probably stands for extra worrysome roads. Well, just across the street you can have yourself a Bud before sitting in traffic watching that flying eagle.

Tech 792, just to clear the Ft. Monmouth/DoD situation up. Since Bosnia, it has become increasingly difficult to staff enough MP's on military installations at home as well as have enough for operations overseas. Ft. Monmouth, Ft. Dix and Lakehurst all have DoD Police and with the "Magabase" thing going on, McGuire AFB will soon have DoD. It is not because we can arrest civilians, it was a manpower issue. But arresting civilians is nice.

Greg, during the Postal Exercise, the FBI and other law enforcement were monitoring the Postal Inspector Entry and Security Ops from my Field Communications Post across the street. Regional level postal honchos were somewhat amazed that we knew what was going on inside at the same time, or before, they did inside their war wagon on wheels. The PSPIS did spend some tiime with us later and seemed rather interested in our intellegence gathering resources and methods. (Two computer/monitoring weenies) That's probably what caused all the hub-bub.

System ID and connect tone

Sorry, I do not have the system ID or connect tone. I'm not quite that "high tech" yet.

FBI repeater in Newark

I recently noticed that the FBI repeater in Newark has been very quiet. They must be using an additional frequency now (most likely P25 or encrypted).

FBI Newark P25

I have confirmed that the FBI Repeater Channels A-1 (169.975) and A-7 (169.625) are P25 compliant with ENC being used on a "choice" basis. Most transmissions have been in the open mode so far; let's hope it stays that way. I'll see what else I can dig up for everyone.
