These guys seem evasive. Wondering if you hear repeaters in Newark and Kilmer at the same time. Do you use directional anennas? I use to monitor them clear voice but seems like more and more they are encrypted. Thought I heard maritime clear voice activity on that freq then went encrypted. I am not convinced this is Postal all the time if at all on this frequency. So many agencies changing frequencies something else might be going on here. OK hopefully we will catch them cv.

Well, I know for a fact that the USPIS operates in P25 ENC mode and that there are repeaters in Hamilton and Newark, NJ. The Kilmer (Edison) one was taken out of service when the new system went active about 1 1/2 years ago.

Next question I have is: does anyone know what 408.10000 in P25 mode is used for? I do not have NAC capability and the signal is six bars in Edison (Raritan Center) NJ area on my BC296D using the RS 800 MHz antenna. Any thoughts? I searched NY and NJ forums, but nothing so far (unless I skipped something, which has happened before). I was not able to catch a description of the transmission, since I just found it recently and was preoccupied with other tasks.

GM,

My records show 408.100R as being the State Department's "UN (as in United Nations) 1" channel with "UN 2" being simplex.

With the recent rebanding that took place within the federal UHF range, all information is now subject to change unless re-confirmed. Let us know if what you are hearing might jive with diplomatic type (movements, escorts, etc.) radio traffic.

408.100

I've been receiving a NAC of $0F0 on 408.100 but have not as of yet identified the user. I have seen $0F0 identified as used by the State Department on the Federal Monitoring Forum.

I know, I was busting your chops! Good comeback though.

Kenisned works for "the company". Be careful what you type, the men in black might pay you a visit.

NJ Federal Unid

Hi Folks:

After doing some searching in the 406-420 Mhz Federal band (one of my new projects), I came across this one in the Hamilton NJ area: 409.9375 R NAC 482. I'm thinking that this is a USPS freq. (based on the tone) of some sort, but if anyone in the area can clarify this for me, that would be great. I only picked up ENC so far on it, but maybe I'm missing out on something here. If the signal is strong in the area, I'm thinking it's based from the repeater tower at the Trenton P&DC in Hamilton on US Rt. 130.

Otherwise else, the "hunt" still continues...

NJ Federal - NPS DWG

Hi folks:

While monitoring the NPS Del. Water Gap freq's the past few Sundays, I've noticed that the Rangers and Dispatch sometimes refer in the transmissions as different channel #'s. When I originally found the current freq's in use (2005 I think), I inquired at the NJ Ranger Station to see if their were others in use. I was told no, just the repeater channels that cover both North and South areas for all types of workers (Maint, Lifeguards, LE, etc.)

However, I've noticed that one of the channels was referred to as "Ch. 3" (168.475 while I was in Upper Glen NJ area) and at another time, the dispatcher said "everyone switch to Ch. 2 for non-emergency communication; emergency traffic on Ch. 1 only" [during an emergency]. I heard no other traffic on the repeater channels during the event. Does anyone in that area have "connections" to see what the radio plan is? Is Ch. 2 a Tac, Ch.3 a repeater, etc. Or does the NPS have something similar to the DEP VHF radio network set-up in place? Any positive contributing feedback is most welcome; I hike the area quite a bit and like to know what's occurring for safety reasons. Thanks in advance.

Might use different NAC's on the same frequencies (similar to what the TSA does). I've only heard the same transmission on the North and South frequencies so will keep an ear out.

TAS,
Its funny you should mention Ft. Monmouth. I just had a DOD policeman here at my shop. He said they dumped the MPs and now have DOD police. Something about the MPs not being able to arrest civilians? And since Ft. Monmouth is occupied by 95% civilians, they made the switch.

The input for Sandy Hook was a simplex channel at one time. If I had to guess, the 169.40 repeater has been in operation for around 8-10 years.

And to answer Air Cargo, this freq is used by the park rangers, fire dept & maintenance. The lifeguards use a seperate freq up around 170 mhz. But I can't remember the exact freq.

EMS is provided by Sea Bright (155.145) and Highlands (154.145)

I've been picking this up in Warren County, it sounds like some sort of park maintenance. Perhaps it's the missing DEWG freq.

172.400 Nac 4CE

That would be Hopewell Furnace NHP in PA, near Valley Forge; although maybe, if the signal is strong enough, it could be the missing freq. that I'm looking for. I'll plug it in and doing some monitoring the next time I'm up in that area. Thanks crew.

I just heard a 10 minute long radio check from a dispatcher on both 167.2625 and 167.3625 one week ago at about 6am. Same dispatcher on both channels performing the same radio check.

Has anyone nailed down the NAC codes for DEWA?

I've been picking up 168.475 with a P25 NAC of 4F9 for some time now but it sounds heavier than Park Rangers to me, I'll keep listening.

172.425 P25-167 FBI Bravo 5 ?

171.650 P25-293 ?
