I finally got the system setup on Airspy SDR# on the Toms River site, here's some unknown TGs that popped up:

120907 - announcement made about flooding at Journal Square platform C
120909 - no audio heard

Edit: I see these are listed under Fleet 120

Those are console talkgroups. Each console is assigned a TG so 907 would be console 7 which is in Maplewood. Each console has a specific garage or garages they communicate with. So that TG is used by CAD and could be any bus from any garage assigned to that console operator at that time. It is not a dedicated TG that has specific users on it. Fleet 120 is the CAD fleet specifically for white buses with the NJT logo on them.

Yes I’m aware. Does NJTPD actually use this system or are they just on NJICS? I been hearing Gateway Security at different terminals.

I picked up TG 932 overnight, another garage fallback channel?
932 is supposed to be the dummy talk group with no calls on it. Its the home TG when radios go to idle via CAD. There are 8 fallback talkgroups (2 garages per TG) and I would have to search to see which ones those are.

What are you using to listen to this? I know NJT and Academy bus drivers are always giving traffic reports and alternate route info to each other. It would be a great resource to listen to while commuting.

One thing to keep in mind is that the old NJT Smartnet and Metricom were simulcast. So you got to hear everything everywhere. The new system is not multicast. So unless an agency is also on the same site you are listening to, you wont hear what you are looking for.

Other then light rails, is there any NJT Rail Ops on this System? I did notice a RailCom Talkgroup (10043), does that carry any Railroad Traffic?

Thank you in advance.

Heavy rail is strictly VHF simplex. FRA and AAR rules apply. Railcom is Rail Communications. They rarely if ever use that TG unless there is a failure in their primary communications. This is mainly a backup TG. Rail is in the process of eventually going NXDN.

If Toms River is the site you can hear...you will probably hear Buses on the 120 fleet most of the time. Unless someone with a portable is roaming around near that tower, you should not be hearing any of the light rails. You may hear some bus supervisors on the 100 fleet and maybe a Coach or Academy Bus from the 105 or 107-109 fleets.
