Hello everyone,

I had a quick question and hopefully you guys can answer it for me so I don't have to go digging through specs and directions for my Uniden BC796D. I am currently running the NJSP Troop C TRS on this scanner (certain talkgroups - not all) and I do have these certain talkgroups broken down and spread out across some, but not all, of the banks in memory. My question is... I'd like to add Troop A in to this scanner too and can two Motorola Type-II systems (Troop C and A) be scanned at the same time and also can the talkgroups be mixed for both Troop C and Troop A on different banks? If so or not, please help with your knowhow experience and knowledge. Thanks to all ahead of time for any information that will help me with this!

P.S., I was at the Atlantic City International Airport yesterday and boy was this place swarming with NJSP and K-9 dogs! Something was up yesterday! Does anyone have any specific NJSP Troop A, etc... talkgroup information, especially to be able to monitor all of the action at Atlantic City International Airport?

You will be able to scan both Troop A and Troop C providing you put them in separate banks. Some may argue you can put both Troop A and C in the same bank, but it's not really a good idea for monitoring purposes.

When you say you have the "talk groups spread out across some, but not all, of the banks in memory" do you mean you have them in different ID Lists? The talk groups must be entered in the same "bank" as their respective trunk system, but they are entered into the ID Lists. I'm not trying to get technical here, but I just want to make sure we're both on the same page.

As for the talk groups being mixed for both C and A, the best way to do it would be:
In the bank you have Troop C, enter the talk groups that are designated for Troop C only, plus any that are compatible for Troops A & B, A & C or A, B, & C. In the bank you have Troop A programmed enter the talk groups that are designated for Troop A only, plus any that are compatible to Troops A & B, A & C or A, B, and C. Talk groups that have no A, B, or C designation are compatible to all Troops or Systems, so you would want to any of those that you want also.

One more thing, your location will depend on whether or not you can receive Troop A. I don't know your exact location, but if you're getting Troop C there's a chance you may not be able to get Troop A, unless you're in a "border" area for both. As I said, your location will be the factor here.

If you're confused or have any other questions, post and we'll help you.

I found out today from a friend of mine that the State Police at the Atlantic City Airport use the Egg Harbor Twp. System, which is Pro Voice, and is not receivable by any scanner.

As per the PhillyScanner eBook, ACY Police 1 is analog. ACY Police 2 and ACY NJSP are ProVoice Digital. The SJTA Fire Department is analog conventional.

Thanks For The NJSP Troop C & A TRS Information

Hello all,

Thanks very much for all of the great information that you posted in reference to my questions! I apologize for not getting back to you all sooner. My work had me very swamped for the last couple of weeks. I'm going to try and program my BC796D to combine NJSP Troops A & C very soon. I forgot to mention that I do use the Butel ARC-250 Pro Software for my BC796D. Wow! I am really bummed out that us scanner listeners can't hear all of the action that takes place at the Atlantic City International Airport! I'm wondering if and when the NJSP ever get their new radio updates, maybe they will then in the future be using their own TRS analog talkgroups, as opposed to sharing the Atlantic County TRS out of Mays Landing or Egg Harbor Twp. System, which is Pro Voice. Oh, by the way, I am located in Forked River, NJ, so I think I should be able to receive the NJSP Troop A TRS just to the south of me. Thanks again everyone and I'll keep you posted as to my progress and please also keep me posted as to any ACY or NJSP Troop A monitoring. Best regards to all!
