MY Grecom PS-600 that I recently programmed with a combination of a few VHF and a larger number of Type 2 P25 Frequencies, and is used for a Broadcastify feed. I am having an issue where the P25 frequency appears on the screen..but NO audio. I have another BCD996 P2 scanner adjacent which is receiving the same transmissions with no problem. Using ARC500 software for programming. Looking for advice. Thanks.

If by Type 2 you mean PHASE 2 then unfortunately your PSR-600 won't handle P25 Phase-II unless talkgroups on the system are FDMA (mode "D" in the RRDB)

System voice is analog on both type-II's listed there but the OP said they were having trouble bringing in P25. OP needs to clarify what system they're having trouble with

Please attach your ARC500 .grs programming file so that we can take a look at it. You will need to zip the file to be able to attach it. Click on Attach files and open the zipped file. Please specify which system is giving you problems.

Attached ZIP ARC 500 files. The major problem is that the P25 Digital Trunk traffic I am not receiving any audio, although the freq goes active on the screen....and I know it is transmitting as I am hearing it simultaneously on my BCD996P2. the other minor problem I raised earlier, is I am getting a "ghosting" stop on 163.650 VHF frequency regularly..no traffic. I was formerly using this GRECOM scanner for only VHF...and that problem did not seem to appear until I entered P25 Type 2 Trunk traffic...but a minor irritant.

One thing about the PSR-600 scanners is they will attempt to use control channels even if the only signal present is an open carrier or noise when the trunking system is set to "Multi-Site" and "Roam". The Uniden scanners are smart enough to move on to a different control channel if data is not being received however this is not the case with the GRE scanners when the trunked system is set to "Roam".

I would try manually tuning in the control channel that is causing problems to verify control channel data is being received. If there is a signal present on the control channel however no data being received then this could prevent the scanner from decoding that specific trunked system.

That sounds like an issue related to the scanner changing frequency bands during the scanning process. If you lock out 163.650 does the issue begin to be noticed on a different VHF frequency? You could try duplicating that conventional object and then delete the original object to see if this helps as this will rearrange the order that specific frequency is scanned during the scanning process. I believe you tried to remove the delay and add a CTCSS.

System Type should be P25 AUTO. You are scanning multiple sites. Multi-Site should be set to Roam or Stationary, not Off. If set to Roam, you will scan only the site with the best signal. If set to Stationary, you will scan every site whose control channels are in the frequency list. It is better if you limit the number of sites you scan. Delete any of the control channel frequencies for out of range sites. The more sites you scan, the more you will be clipping the beginning of transmissions. If you try to scan all of the sites, you will totally miss transmissions.

Thank you tvengr....I will give that a shot....You are suggesting I have too many freq in the GRECOM. I added a number of additional ones I was seeing on the 996 whenever it transmitted. Will go back and review my list and keep it to the control channels marked. thank you.

You are trying to scan way too many sites. Try to limit yourself to sites in your immediate area. There is an old saying: "The more you scan, the less you hear."

There...I reduced the sites to 9 (although I have way more than that in the BCD996P2 with no problems). Could I ask you to take a quick look at the setup an see if I missed something . I am still missing audio on the GRECOM ..active right now...996 seems to get it all... Followed your suggestins.

Your updated ARC500 file still shows P25 MANUAL, 26 frequencies, and Multi-Site Off. That is why I asked for an updated file last time.
