It's possible. {FROWN!} I *do* know that GROVE Enterprises *had* it in their catalog 2 weeks ago and when I happened to wander back about the first of this week (26 Apr 05) to check about a part number for an accessory it was gone. Also Universal Radio has a blurb saying that they have been discontinued but, they have managed to corner a bunch, on their site. Both of which tend to make one think that ICOM has quit making them. {FROWN!}

I wonder if they are going to come out with a replacement or if they are just going to get out of the SWL/Ute receiver market completely like so many others seem to have done. (Try getting a new DRAKE R8B these days! About the only ones left are JRC's NRD-545 and possibly Ten-Tec?)

I hope Icom comes out with a replacement at sometime if they stopped making them at all....The R-8500 is a awesome receiver of what I can tell, but some say the R-75 is a bit better over the shortwave band compared to the 8500 .......
Icom is very proud of the new R-20 but I dont think they will just stick with that for new receivers....

Shortwave radio manufacturers are hard to predict or try to figure out at times, lol....

I also heard that Grundig was bought by that crazy new company....

Eton/Grundig came out with an interesting radio....an HF receiver with XM radio receive as well. I wonder how well that thing is selling...
As far as Icom, it looks like Icom is getting out of the tabletop receiver business. The R20 is the R10 perfected; I own both, and love them. I love my R75, as well. Most of my equipment is Icom...R7100, IC-746. It's a shame, because the R75, despite the poor Synchronous Detector, is a damned good radio. I love it for the HF utilities; if I want to listen to BCB, I use my Drake which has a good sync.

Come on, Icom! If you read this board, let's see another good tabletop!

For whatever reason, Icom has gotten out of the tabletop receiver game. No big deal...TenTec seems to be picking up the slack. I believe they're coming out with a new wideband rig that will also do DRM.
Meantime, keep looking on ebay!

RE: ICOM R-75

The R75 is still available at UNIVERSAL RADIO. com
It's a great receiver and be a classic 10 yrs. from now.
The Grundig SAT-800 is a great receiver and will be considered a classic.
( At least on my shelves of out of production units )
Talked with Universal and a few others who have a finger on the pulse of ICOM, the R75 may go back to production soon.
Wish I could afford the JRC NRD 545G.
From what I can tell, the JRC NRD line of receivers is a great value. But expect to put down at least $2,000 for that.
I'll just have to save up the money and stop spending on all the antenna projects for now.
