Does this scanner have a fuse inside, or a reverse protection diode? I assume this unit uses surface mount. Thinking about purchasing this scanner as is, no lights, no power

You say it has no power, Does the out let where you have it pluged in to have power ?

Don't have radio yet, it is a customer return. It was tested with a good power supply. Good deal if I can repair it. Was a military radio tech, depot level, and former CB tech. But that was before SMT

Ok, What i would do if you get it is to take the radio case off & check the connection where the power plugs in to the radio & see if it burnt at that connection on the inside. just an idea.

Yes. I pulled the trigger on one. Hard to pass up for $95. Guess that schematic would be a real help. It has been my past experience that no power issues with mobile equipment is usually caused by connecting the power leads in reverse. I hoping this is the case with these.

I got mine yesterday, BIG gouge on the face and screen which weren't pictured.

I didn't have an extra power adapter handy, so I used alligator leads to put 12V at the anode of the input reverse protection diode. Mine powered right up and I was able to enter in a trunked system and it scanned just fine.

That is exactly what I figured. Someone hooked them up reversed. Common problem with mobiles. Saw it w lot when I was a CB tech. I think for the money, I would keep it. Possibly get another faceplate for it. Just a thought.

Or all three were tested on the bench with the same bad power adapter.
I'm used to transceivers (and some serious military radio filter/amplifiers from work), there ain't much on the inside of one of these.

I received mine today, and so far, I would have to say my experience is much better than yours. Mine looks new! Not a blemish or scratch on it. It looks like it was never used! I haven't powered it up yet, BTW, what the devil is that jack anyway. Looks like a laptop jack.

Easiest way if you don't have a connector is to apply 12 volts through an alligator clip on the anode of the input diode (near the DC jack on the inside). Ground is the chassis.
I just put the one I got back in the mail, will be interested to see if it shows up on the bay again.
I'm not too eaten up about it, I did just buy three NIB Pro-652s yesterday for $80 each.

I did, though I might have been too polite in leaving the two PRO-651s behind the counter. At least somebody else got to share in the incredible bargains.

The correct power adaptor is 13.8 volts 600 ma . RS sells the part but the RSU warehouse is out out stock . They may be available later .
