I recently purchased a Uniden BCD436HP scanner. I received it and charged the battery and this popped up on screen (set the clock press E) I attempted that and was not able to get anything to work. Would anyone have any idea what I could do or who to contact. I attempted Uniden but since I purchased through a third party they wont help me.

Thanks
Michael

Is your scanner new? Years ago, there was a repair campaign for replacing the clock battery. The battery needs to be charged for 50 hours for a full charge. The clock battery charges only when the scanner is turned on. It sounds like you have an old scanner. There was a firmware update so that the scanner would stop on Set Clock for 5 seconds and then resume scanning. You need to update the firmware to eliminate the hanging up on the Set Clock screen.

Thats funny, says lifetime customer support. Does not say, unless bought from 3 party.
Technically, it says Lifetime Customer Support. If you don't buy it from Uniden or one of their authorized dealers, you are not a Uniden customer. That's how I see it. Anyone else with a similar experience or a different interpretation?

I see it as if you own the product, they should help you no matter what cause that would be like Samsung saying because you bought the tv at Costco, only they can help. In reality, many 3rd party vendors are just that, buyers and sellers of goods and have limited to zero knowledge about anything technical about the products they buy and resell.

To update the firmware, you need to download and install Uniden Sentinel: http://info.uniden.com/UnidenMan4/BCDx36HPSentinel With Sentinel running, Turn on your scanner. Plug the USB cable into your computer and then the scanner. Press E on the scanner to enter USB Mass Storage. Go to the Update tab of Sentinel and click on Update Firmware. Once completed, eject the scanner and remove the USB cable. The firmware in the scanner will update. When the update in the scanner finishes, turn off the scanner. When you turn on the scanner, it will pause on the Set Clock screen for 5 seconds and then begin scanning.

Non responsive keypad issue, sounds like keypad lock is turned on? Function button while pressing power on/off button if I remember correctly.
If this were the case the screen would read "Keypad lock ON" regardless of what key is pressed which to me would constitute a "response"

In the Uniden owners manual, it states that the warranty applies to the original retail owner.
