The change also comes as talks continue about forming cost-saving regional fire service cooperation or mergers among six communities that cover more than 100 square miles of western Wayne County. Livonia, Westland, Northville Township, Canton Township, Plymouth and Plymouth Township have agreed to fund a joint study of ways to combine fire services.

It will be very interesting to see how this project will all pan-out in the future. The last I heard, Plymouth City was thinking about breaking away from Plymouth Twp, as they feel fire services for the city can be done at a lower cost, especially if they go it alone. However, this new idea of a regional fire service or mega-merger would save a lot of money in the long-run.

I think there has been more changes with Public Safety in the last year, with who's the boss, and what do they boss, than I remember in my lifetime!
