• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

I had a modified mic on my big radio, aside from various power/echo/noise making ones. I had a Heil element put in the stock 2950 mic. Fantastic for sideband work.

I preferred a power mic on long drives. I'd crank it up and just leave it in my lap and talk.

I had perfect audio anytime I  wanted it.

When it wasn't perfect, it's because I wanted someone to complain about it... so that I could let them hear it some more, just louder.😁

Sarcasm, I hope lol. Now I realize why I became a Amateur Radio Op and ditched 11 meters, altogether.

The music was always loud enough to drown out the road noise... Never cared what the listener thought. 😝

CB was fun in old days because of 40-channels. 25-30 of them kinda rambunctious some nights.

For some reason there was (and is) a whole subculture lives along major American rivers still living the CB high life. Have heard it in Texas, Kentucky and Florida.

The Venn Diagram appears to intersect with wives who’ve poisoned their husbands with perfect murder “Fentanyl Overdose” to judge by what’s to be heard.

No thanks, I’ll stick with the common maroons on 19.

There’s fun reasons to play with a sound effects power mic. But not in some places, and not after dark.

Rooster gives it a go and our end of the audio is enhanced by his test set-up.

The DXE-656 at about 1300 (a touch more than 1200, but less than at 1500) is how I’d run it and sounds VG. Why mine is married to my G959. Holding and using it is far above average.

The SR76 is the one I want to try with QT60.

Recommended video given the mic choices.

PRESIDENT radios stay with their choices and with AT it’ll be hard to improve audio.

Still, men & their radio rigs are a pairing where mic experimentation can pay off.
