Hello all,

Some might be aware , GRN Digital is all happening this week, with AMBO already over to APCO 25 as of yesterday in Central West. Sydney to follow very soon.

NSW FB all will be done over the next week.

SES and RFS already on P25..

If you have a digital scanner, you will be lucky, otherwise all of these services will not be heard.

I am in Bathurst NSW and the AMBO are very clear. I use a Uniden 396 and Uniden 996 ( radio stream scanner) .

If anyone needs help in programming, leave note on this forum.

Dave

I have tons of GRN P25 data from Unitrunker when I was driving thru NSW and QLD last September and October, but the system was changing so fast and so greatly, I don't know if it's valid any more. But I can share it if people wish.

Jaskel if your in Sydney, only RFS and Sherrif live, ambo and Fire coming next week..

Although if you have all Controll channels programmed in, would be hearing alot.

What scanner do you have. ?

Bathurst area and most of NSW is Digital now, RFS< SES, Fire, Ambo, Corrective services.

I am running a stream 24/7 which has all digital frequencies, Talkgroups live.

Enjoy the clearer comms.

Hi all, im just waiting on the Ambo comms to go here(they struggle on their PMR system). RFS continues on PMR, FRNSW went here first(area seemed to be the testbed). waiting and seeing on what the police do, they have allocations for 3 UHF vote groups in the tablelands looking like digital but mixed stories on encrypted or not?
am enjoying the P25 here though, analogue seems inferior nowadays.
cheers all

I really can't believe how clear how digital is compared to the old analogue . I'm streaming police and grn digital and the difference is amazing .
I have made up many systems for the 396 and 996 scanners using the arc396 and arc 996 software programs.

The band plan is very different to the old grn . If anyone wants the details for manual programming, contact me via bathurstscan.com .

Rfs still on pmr in bathurst also.

Cheers.

Hi all, I might have spoken too soon. TG 30321 (southern Ambos)has been on and off for weeks very randomly and silent. at 0745 it was enabled and the operator is coming thru on the new TG. it does not have the cars patched thru it.
Could be changeover day?
I have some Win500 and pro96 files if anyones interested too?
cheers

Hi Everyone
I am only new at this and don't know a great deal. I am a Retained Firefighter and like listening to the radio while driving. I had a motorola MCS2000 in my 4wd which had 40ch UHF and all NSWFB talk groups but now they have gone digital nothing. Is there a radio out there I could get as a 40ch UHF and also listen to NSWFB digital talk groups??? Any advice would be great. Could I purchase a motorola XTL5000 and do the same as MCS2000??? Again any advice would be great

Cheers

NO. See below.

NO. The digital system is different to the analogue system, in that the radio has to affiliate to the network before it can receive any audio, and as it would not be an approved radio on the network, it would be "stunned" or "killed" very quickly.

Thanks Comint
Could you recommend a scanner that could do the job??? Looking at hard wiring into the 4wd and possible remote head so can place main body under the seat.

Probably the Uniden BCD996XT, but you would have to import it from the US, as Uniden Australia no longer distribute digital scanners.

The BCD996XT can be used with a Remote Head, the RH-96, but from memory it has a few shortcomings.

Also, be wary of buying the BCD996XT from the USA, and then attempting to use it with an RH-96 purchased locally. There is an Australianised version of the RH-96 (for use with the superseded UBCD996T), and it is NOT compatible with the American models.

Hi Dave
I have a Radioshack Pro2096 and Win 96 PC software, and live in the Illawarra NSW. I have guessed that I just need to switch on the MOT 9600CC "Multiple Table" on each GRN channel, but are the base, offset and step same as the old MOT 3600CC? If not what do I need to enter?
Thanks in advance

well we are in full swing now!

Beware tho as the 996T and 396T can only fit 250 TGID into 1 system, the new P25 grn has over 350 TGID!

Hi all, and to get it to track properly you may find youll have to muck around with the 3600 baud settings too. i found with my Pro96 i had to set the 3600baud settings to custom table as well as the 9600 baud setting. for some reason if i left the 3600 on normal or any other it would miss just about all conversations on the P25 GRN. yet i was picking up the local control channel very strong.
you should be able to just use custom table to get it to work. mine is working well on that setting.
cheers
