Help in programming for the p25 GRN on 396T

Bathurst area and most of NSW is Digital now, RFS< SES, Fire, Ambo, Corrective services.

I am running a stream 24/7 which has all digital frequencies, Talkgroups live.

Hey guys, just having trouble programming my ubcd396T for the p25 trunking systems...i have taken some notes on ur posts, but am just wondering id all the frequencies are still the same.(except for the offsets and so forth)...

Hey all,

This digital setup has many people talking.

I was looking around back end of scanner ..

This info is what Uniden 396 has

Band Plan as follows, as per scanner


0. 851.00625 mhz Input base/ Input spacing 6.25 khz
1. 762.00625 mhz /6.25 khz
2. 851.0125 mhz/ 12.5 khz
3. 762.00625 mhz / 12.5 khz spacing
4. 412.475 mhz / 6.25 khz spacing
5. 420.0125 mhz / 6.25 khz spacing

All i did was start new system, AP 25 motorola , enter in control channels, complete and this is what was done.

I couldnt not find offset anywhere in the 396 .

regarding Talkgroup Id's within Systems on Uniden 396, easy way to get around this.. I created several systems. eg, AMBO, FIRE< SES, RFS (scan IDs only) , setup their own group keys, plenty of room. I then also created one System in the search mode only, so if there are new IDs i wont miss one.

If anyone wants these Systems, profiles ive made , especially if you have the ARC software from Butel for the 396 or 996, give me a bell on bathurstscan@bigpond.com, will happily email. Ive programmed a heap around Central west already..

Lee, the frequencies are different for all sites, the offsets, input freq and spacings also the same, but dont worry.. The 396 does this all on its own.

You know how to program a new system on the 396??

that info wont help, its all changed since then, new TGID, new towers, some towers deleted etc etc..

Actually, I obtained permission from BigFella over on the scanSydney forums to share what's being collaborated in the forum posts there, to here. He stated if I was willing to spend the time at the keyboard putting it all in, I should go right ahead.

It'll be good practice for when my province starts building our new P25 system later this month!

***Hey DavidKc, thanks for the frequencies and your help dude...i had previously put the controls ch's listed in GRN section of this site and they did work but the signal was a little weak, but after i enetered ur frequencies, the reception of the signals seem to be alot stronger now...thanks heaps man.

Your welcome, glad they work well.

I certainly havent had any trouble.. I happened to be in Parramatta the day Bathurst went live with Fire Digital, heard them clear as a bell in Sydney. .

I travelled home and the scanner worked a dream, no need to change a thing and control channel only worked just how it should.

Hi all, I might have spoken too soon. TG 30321 (southern Ambos)has been on and off for weeks very randomly and silent. at 0745 it was enabled and the operator is coming thru on the new TG. it does not have the cars patched thru it.
Could be changeover day?
I have some Win500 and pro96 files if anyones interested too?

Hi all,
The Uniden UBCD396T won't track the digital GRN with the supplied programming. It has the NSW GRN programmed at Motorola Type II. I found you have to create a new system database set up as P25 and enter the base frequencies, step and all 32 control channels.

GRN Digital Network preset in UBCD software

I have found when i recently downloaded the UBCD programming software, that it contained the NSW GRN digital already in the presets...it had mysteriously appeared in my scanner sytems list when i downloaded some settings.

If you really want the best out of scanning the GRN forget the preprogramed that came with it
