With the adoption of SAME technology for activating weather alert radios, does NWS still transmit the tone alert (1050hz for 8 seconds) for severe weather alerts?
If so, does anyone utilize a tone/voice pager (such as a minitor) set to the NWS frequency and the 1050hz tone to receive weather alerts in a more portable fashion? Just curious. I know theoretically it should work but I wasn't sure if it was common practice, or if NWS still transmits that tone.
