To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hi all,

I'm trying to replicate the settings from my minitor 6 to my XPR7550e for two-tone selective call. However, I'm finding that no matter what I do, I cannot get a quick call to trigger. I want it to alert only if the tones 909.8 & 991.9 are heard (third tone set on audio). Any thoughts would be much appreciated. Frequencies & names have been redacted but are correct and accurate. Looking for someone who knows quick call 2 programming pretty well. Thank you.

Our base always transmits on the frequency with DPL 261. I've also tried setting the signaling squelch to "AND". I've verified that when it was sent to "OR", it keyed on but from the DPL code alone. When set to "AND", I see the light on the radio indicating that there is a transmission, but it is not unmuting/alerting when the audible tones go out.

I've played with these settings and I cannot get it to activate still.

I've created the contact but still can't get it to work.

When you say it wont "trigger" is your radio staying quiet with no audio coming through the speaker, or is it receiving everything like its a regular channel?

Does anyone know if it's possible to get the alert sounds that are on the HT/EX series on a XPR series? (Standard-Tones 1-7)

If none of these suggestions have worked, I'm betting its the length of your B tone. QCII is normally 1x3 seconds. The Minitor typically alerts within a second of hearing the B tone. If I remember correctly, the 7550 doesn't alert until well into the B tone, or even at the end of it.

It's an analog system, I've verified that the tones are correct. I even used a second XPR7550e to send a quick call on an alternate frequency and it does alert, unlike when the department pushes out their tones, however. I think it is expecting 1x3 sec and not what the department pushes out which is 1x1 sec.
