• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Do me a favor and turn off recording and see if it helps. If it does, let's get in contact offline and try to escalate.

I'm seeing a lot of recording issues in the current firmware generation.
I didn't try this yet. I will try it after running my test changes for a little bit.

Mine hasn’t turned off but it is still locking up after making changes on the control head. Select a different rf unit and the turn off scan and the system locks up and then starts rebooting. The last time it rebooted over and over for about 40 minutes. the vehicle has dual batteries and the radio is on 2nd battery.

I’m gonna resurrect this thread as I had something similar happen today for the first time.

NX5700/NX5800 on a KCH-21R head. Both have 5.10 firmware. I heard a random beep that I couldn’t identify the source of, followed by a triple beep about a minute later, and then the radios powered themselves off (powering off was displayed on the screen).

I was able to power them back up with the power button on the control head and had no issues afterward. Radios have been installed in this vehicle since January and this is the first time this has happened.

That beep is the ignition sense timer. I've only experienced this a few times, and only when I used my remote start to warm up the car then get going. If I make a short stop after leaving the house (radio stays on) then restart the truck, the timer resets and I don't have the shutdown issue. Someone mentioned to apply the ignition sense to the remote head not the KAP2 on the decks, but I'm not sure that's an option for the HHCH you have.

That’s interesting.. I will have to go into D1N and check the settings. The ignition sense line on both radios isn’t connected to anything as there are multiple radios of different brands in the vehicle and everything cuts on and off with the master switch. I regularly drive 4-5 hours without stopping and this is the first time I’ve encountered it. Not a big deal, I was just surprised to see it happen.

I do not, everything is on a master switch.

OK.

I had a TK-7180 that was set for 30 minute power off after ignition shut off. After 30 minutes of driving, it would beep, beep a few times a minute later, then the power would cycle itself and stay on just fine as long as I was driving. I'm pretty confident it was a firmware bug. Ended up swapping the radio out for an NX-700 I had, and it doesn't do it, which rules out a wiring issue.

Maybe make sure you don't have "power switch and ignition" set to rule that out, even though it's a completely different radio model.
